On the way to work today cruising down the fast lane when I thought I felt a slight hesitation. Thought about it for a second, checked the gauge cluster and saw nothing. So I was like BAH most of been me letting off the throttle. I hammer on the throttle to get my mind back on the wrong and BAM the sucker looses all kinds of power.
So at this point take a mental note. If you ever get the feeling your bike is acting weird get to the right lane as quick as possible then look for issues.

Ok im trying to think WTF is going on while freaking that im loosing power and in the fast lane. Finally get over and the bike is so flipping out and im freaking. I managed to get off the hwy and it finally died. I tried to restart and nothing, the fuel pump was priming so I knew it must have been working.

We are talking morning rush hour taffic here and im trying to think what the heck just happened. First thing to mind is that I just had a ignition module go and replaced. After some thinking I reseated the two plugs going into the ECM for the heck of it. The bike turns on and im extremely excited except for thinking I must have a wiring issue.

Well jump on the beast and gave it hell to find out a half a block later it decided to die. At this point I am freaking laughing my ass off thinking I should have got the Triump speed triple even if it doesnt look as cool. Well today just happens to be monday and guess what no HD's are open.
Another side not.. If you use your bike to get to work and back avoid doing so on monday.. unless you have another person to rely on as well as a truck. That is if your job is understanding.

Manage to get a ride home, snag the jeep, hit up a coworker, drop my car off at his house and picked up the bike w/ his truck. That is after thinking about running it over first. I used this terrible act of god as a reason to take the rest of the day off and slum around the house.

As the day went on it was hard not to start trying to figure out what was wrong w/ it but after the Ignition module issue, headlight failure this weekend and now this I decide I would let the dealership do its job. Well about 7pm I just couldnt take it anymore. After thinking about the issue all day I knew it had to be fuel related considering how it was tring to run but nothing. Then again the fuel reserve light never came on.
Another side not is coming I assure you....

Well what an excuse to drive my buddies truck some more. I took the bike to the local QT and started to gas up. At 2.9 gallons I started to swear.... When it was full and the pump read 3.6 gallons I was embarressed, annoyed and pissed.

So what we have learned here is that im lazy and I should have been using the trip meter as well as the low fuel light to gauge when I should refuel.

Since all other gauges on the cluster still work im guessing the low fuel level sensor has failed. Either way the dealership is still getting it.

OOOO got my buell satisfaction letter today.. They got a ear full that is for sure.

Almost the same thing happened to me...
I was at an intersection and it just died,
I could not figure out what the hell was wrong, so I decided to check the gas using the traditional knock on take way and sure enough it was dry...
Rolled it to a gas station and filled her up
The dealer replaced my fuel pump, which was an added bonus because I got the updated pump
Best of luck

my low fuel sensor didn't work from day one. told me i was on reserve all the time.

dealer took good care of me on that one, though. it took a few days to get an appointment, and in the interim i forgot about it till the last minute. i dropped it off with a full tank of gas. : )

it's funny now. at the time i didn't think about it till the tech mentioned it to me at the local watering hole later. he had to drain the entire tank, fix the problem with the sensor, and refill the tank.

i apologized, but i laughed too. budweiser makes ya do that.

moral of the story.... if ya get this done or any fuel work done, try NOT to fill up yer tank a mile from the dealership. : )

I just happened to have experienced this exact same thing with my new 12r about 4 weeks ago when i bought it......there isnt really anything else that makes you feel stupider than realizing you were having so much fun on the new bike that you never thought once that it might run out of gas.
