Im kinda getting tired of my stock seat on my 04 XB12S. I dont want to spend the big bucks on the Corbin seat... yet. But then again I dont want some cheap one that doesnt provide any comfort. Any thoughts to what is the best seat for the money?? | ||

The Buell Select seat is what I put on my 04 xb12s. It's very comfortable in my opinion. | ||

I too have the select seat It is very comfortable and holds you in place nicely. It costs about 200$ at the dealer | ||

A cheaper alternative is a CityX seat. Just bought a take-off and can't believe the difference it makes around town. Much more plush and it gave me a little more seat height so I can sretch my legs out another inch or so. You can probably by a used one super cheap, I think a new one is about $100. Although I'm not a huge fan of the over all look of the seat (I liked the sleeker standard seat) my butt sure does like it. | ||

for what it's worth... i like a harder seat. soft seats feel great on short hops, but on longer rides, the cushions will bunch up and create areas of different densities under your butt and subsequently, your spine. this leads to "pressure points" if you will, on your back, leading to discomfort. hard seats don't do this, which is why i love the corbin. however, for lower buck, the buell low seat tends to be pretty stiff too. a good mix between the two worlds. i think it looks pretty good too.... opinionated, ain't i?  oh yeah....take yer wallet out of yer back pocket, too. makes a HUGE difference on yer bike and in yer car. | ||

If you are thinking about the CityX seat, I have mine used only 2 or 3 times before I got the low seat...I would accept an offer. | ||

if you ride in the rain or get caught in the rain, or make errant right hand trips through the car wash, stay away from that select seat. It ducts the rain right down your keester, it is the most effective rain gutter I have ever seen. Nobody Seattle tested that seat, I guarantee it. | ||

the BUELL streetfighter is a much better seat than stock ,it's just the right combo. of soft / hard and IMO a better look'n seat than the select. (whats the deal with "cleavage" on the back of the seat ?) | ||

That V is somebody's idea of style over function. I sent mine out the the upholster to add more pad to it, level it off and make it more of a two up seat. Now I can ride a Betty back there  | ||

I put the Select Seat on my 0412S and love it. The little blue Pegasus logo is cool too. All day and your bum is still comfy. Now if they just made something for my knees... | ||

The Corbin seat looks awesome on the Lightnings. I get compliments on mine all the time. It is also very firm and responsive. | ||

Just bought a $10K seat, of course its got a HD Road King under it. Due to the arrival of hot weather and my age creeping upward, I'm only good for about 80-100 miles until I have to take a good break. Without going to that extreme, I like swapping between my Streetfighter seat and the CityX seat. CityX is definitely higher and firmer, but not as secure as the Streetfighter. Streetfighter is more like sitting in, CityX like sitting on. When my butt gets tired of one, it is a simple switch and both look A-1. Streetfighter about $190 retail, CityX $110. (When I got the CityX, the dealer forgot to pull his invoice from the box. Do they get a 100% markup on all Buell parts? I don't much care for the little blue horsey head myself, took a black magic marker to it. Same thing for the wee tail bag with the cheesy elastic strap for retention. Just like removing all the decals, logos. Make 'em ask, you can tell almost any lie about the bike then. I think the cleavage on the Select seat is to confuse anybody who might be trying to get a bead on your butt. They won't be able to tell where the seat stops and your cheeks start. It could be the only thing that saves an inattentive Bueller. | ||

Are the dimensions the same? What I mean is does the select seat have the same amount of rider & passenger space as a standard 03' xb9s seat? I have been wanting to upgrade my seat but I would like to have a little bit more space for myself... I hardly ever take someone with me so I don't mind losing a little pillion space. I am a little on the thick side and the curve of the standard seat kind digs into the top of my ass. I was considering the Select seat and the Corbin but I am not sure which yet. I would also like to pick up a city X seat to swap out with every now and then if anyone has one they would like to get rid of hit me up | ||

I don't know about the standard vs the StreetFighter, but the StreetFighter gives the rider a bit more room to slide back than the Low seat. With the CityX seat you can pretty much slide back and forth as much as you like, but the padding will bunch up as already pointed out (meaning you may have to move around a lot). I've tried the CityX, Low and StreetFighter seats and prefer the StreetFighter |
