It would mount on the 12R the same place I had it mounted on the 12Ss. I'll try to take pictures tonight. Basically, it's mounted on a metal tab bolted off of the oil cooler. You don't even notice it's there unless someone points it out.

Itchybro and Mndwgz: Sorry it took so long, but here's a photo of where and how we installed the BMW accessory socket on the Lightning Long XB12Ss:

Unless you knew it was there, you'd never spot it. We used one of the bolts on the oil cooler. It's wired into the battery on a fused circuit. That I don't know how to photograph, sorry. My local BMW mechanic did it for me when I got the bike.

Hey Itchybro, congrats on the new bike. I think you will find it very well suited to your intended usage.

Don't hate me b/c I am 1/2 hour from the Gap. I'll be there tomorrow morning for breakfast. I'll be riding my Naked Bandit 1200 with an M2 flyscreen and riding with a girl on a blue Honda nighthawk. If you see us say hi.

Usually I take the Firebolt to the gap but being with a slower rider I figured I take the Bandit out.

Hopefully I'll be on my way back from Birmingham (and staying DRY!) tomorrow.

BUT, if all goes well, I may take er' up for a run Sunday morning. I'll be on the lookout for ye!

Itchybro, Before adding anything to your new Ss, order up some frame pucks from any Buell dealer. You'll be glad you did if the bike falls over.

The beast has arrived! (I weaseled a ride to Birmingham today and rode er' home)

The test ride was almost the last ride as the tires had something similar to armor all over the ENTIRE SURFACE of the tread. YIKES. I did a short but very dramatic Jay Springsteen impression.

Yup, pucks are probably a higher priority than gizmos at this juncture. (although, the soft luggage is already on the way).

I'm wondering if my local guys have those in stock.

I'll probably start a new thread as this one's questions have been answered.

Material for new thread perhaps:

I got a great deal BUT, I didn't get any manuals. Is there somewhere I can download PDF's?

Higher priority than pucks perhaps is a stock muffler. Whomever had it before took off the back of the thing and I'm assuming took out the baffles.

It's VERY loud and the exhaust goes straight to the tire (although periodically stopping and checking yielded nothing much higher than the front's temp). Ran strong and good the entire way home.

I'm beat. I'm going to bed and getting up early to see how it likes the gap.

you can down load an owners manual at www.buell.com , but i think you have to register on the owners page. it's free, and has some cool stuff like fuell, the free buell magazine.
