Did a bit of searching before this post... Anyone made some highway pegs for their XB? Got a Pic or some ideas. Where to mount them? Fold up? I like to get the legs straight now and again down the highway.  TIA Kaveman | ||

You are kidding...right? Maybe you need to trade in this hog for a real hog!  I know they have rearsets, but I doubt they have adapters to move the pegs forward. This would looks better than cruiser pegs and you'd stand out less. Anyway, I'm not gonna rain on your parade. If it's something you want to try that's cool. Maybe you could create mounts off of the front of the engine. If you look at the pic below that crash cage mounts to the front of the engine. Maybe that would work. Powers Stuntworx Crash Cage | ||

I've thought about it. No way in hell on my XB12R! But on my Uly after a 7700 mile trip last year it would have been nice. Usually I just hang my feet on the rear pegs on the R and arch my back to stretch on long rides. Works great. But my feet are too big to do this on the Uly with the bags on.  Didn't think to test for and so didn't discover this until on the long superslab ride, BIG bummer. Spent much of the second half of the ride doing leg lifts from hell or laying down hugging the bars to stretch by back. Both at 80 to 90 mph. | ||

I wouldn't knock it Tim. Some of these guys put plenty of miles on in one day. So I suppose if you make yourself comfortable why not. | ||

I wouldn't want to move the footpegs but on longer rides it'd be nice to have some highway pegs too for an alternate place to put the feet. My Sportster has forwards and sometimes I put my feet on the passenger pegs for a change of position. Highway pegs on an XB would basically be the reverse of that. It's hard to picture how to incorporate them into the XB's design without them looking odd tho | ||

I have been looking at this idea also. I haven't had the stroke of ambition needed to get it done yet though. I would be real good as you are riding into your third tank of gas for the day. For now when I need to stretch while riding I scoot my butt as far back onto the back seat as possible. It gives me "fresh", cool seating for a while and before moving back to the front it allows that padding to come back to life. | ||

I scoot back as far as I can too. I can only make it to the second tank before I have to - and I'm not so long, so I can't actually scoot that far and still reach the grips  | ||

I usually just scoot back on in the saddle, pile a little more ass cheek on the seat, and let my legs dangle limp. My legs hand about 1" from the ground that way. I've always thought highway pegs made bikes look like gynecological chairs (yes my wife made me go, no I didn't try it out). | ||

I've done the leg-dangle thing. It helps. Still, I can ride my forward-control Sportster for hours without getting uncomfortable. I may look like I'm preparing for an unpleasant exam, but I'm old enough to appreciate it. Young enough to appreciate my XB too - just can't manage it for as long as on the old-guy bike... | ||

I have looked for a way to put something on that would come off quick just for the long tours but have not been able to come up with anything. | ||

I made a pair that threaded into the chin fairing mounts. Only used them for long stretches on the slab. Nice to have an alternate foot position on the road. They went on and off in less than 2 minutes. I gave them to U4euh when I sold my XB's. | ||

I used to scoot back and hang my feet on the passenger pegs. But then I stripped them off the bike. | ||

The 1" lower pegs do make a difference. I like to rest my feet on the passenger pegs and lay on the air box. Thats how I made it to Sturgis and back. | ||

Yes Bombardier, many have swapped pegs. It's really easy to do, and helps relieve the pressure on your knees quite a bit. | ||

Just remember that the 1" lower pegs only work for the Firebolt as they are stock on the Lightning. Sam |
