This is just a rant but what a day I had.

Wake up and its HOT and Humid and for around here that just puts a smile on my face. Little while later the wife tells me the local shop is have some open house big sale thing. Well cause of all the ot I worked last week I was planning on finally getting a good jacket (vs my sweatshirt and jeans for gear). Went down ended up getting a good deal on the alter ego from joe rocket. Love it fits well and in this area you can have three seasons plus rain in a day so it works great. Get home figure how to assemble and disassemble it through it on and off I go. Filled up with gas and was chatting with a guy on a gixer. And he recommended a road that should be lots and lots of fun. Well he was soooo right. Picture 20+ miles of windy twisty roads through the mountains. Lots of 20mph and curve signs. Then I get to the end bank a right and thought I was heading home. Well I got totally lost.. But in doing so found another one of those omg roads that just has been repaved and it feels like heaven. Some rather hard switchback and even some where I just felt way underskilled to be riding but man was it fun. That was another 20+ miles. I was praying the rain held out the whole time cause it was coming, you could smell it. Got home pulled bike in garage turn around and the rain started. What a perfect day. sry wife don't care.. and had to tell someone... You ever have those seeminly perfect days.

Very few as perfect as that. But when they happen you'll ALWAYS remember them!

Doesn't it seem when you get lost you have the best times?

Getting there is half the fun... getting lost on the way is the other half ;)

Called Deadheading. Just take of with an approx. return date. Just go and get lost no where in particular. Before my life became encumbered I would take off on Friday after work and have a goal of being back on base by sunday eve.

U4euh- I got a Garmin GPS and it sure has increased the get lost factor. Last fall I was in Tenn. and passed this dirt road, I looked on the gps and saw that it was a dirt road that ran the top of a mountain ridge and how far it went, thus I knew that I was not going to get shot or anything and took it along the spine of some Mt.'s in Tenn. I find that the GPS has helped the deadheading a great deal, even though it does feel like cheating, I do not need to worry about running out of gas now that I am trying off road or dirt track unkept roads.
