Has anyone attended one of these classes? I really want to take it and I think its the only way to be able to use the track on track days. Its (to me) alot of money in my current situation but sounds like great fun. If i do it it'll be in louden, NH. Any other buellers done it or have any interest in it? Think its worth the price of admission and getting ur race license? | ||

I have done both Penquin schools: the race school and the track days. The race school is strictly for people who want to get their racing license. It is mostly class room work, and relatively little riding. If you pass the test, you can do the rookie race the next day, and then you get your racing license. If you just want to learn how to ride your motorcycle better, and get in some track time, don't take the race school. Take a track day. You get something like six twenty minute sessions on the track. Good value for the money. The Loundon track is pretty tight and technical, and I found it good training for the twisties I usually ride on. One complaint I have heard is that you just learn how to ride Loundon, not how to ride in general. That's good enough for me. I am planning to go up there with a couple of my riding buddies on the 16 of September for a track day. ( I think that's the date, not positive.) | ||

As that gets closer keep me up to date if your going I'll defintly do a track day. Hopefully we can meet up. All there is around here is twistys and I'd really like to hone my skills better in a controlled enviroment. I thought you had to take the coarse and get your race license in order to go to track days. But if thats not the case I'm there. Little different from going to epping with my stang and civic..lol | ||

tracker95 and i attended the penguin racing school. it was very professional (oldest school in the us) and provided plenty of track time. i believe we had 6 track sessions (2 low speed, 4 high speed)with plenty of instructors available for one-on-one work. louden is a perfect track for the buell, it's technical nature removes much of the power advantage of the inlines. in fact, you may find that the buell give's an advantage in the braking zones as well as corner speed. we we're at the track before 7am and didn't leave till about 7pm, i could not have handled any more track time than we were offered. you will be mentally fatigued by the end of the day (assuming you've pushed for all you've got!). leave your ego at home, listen to your instructors and ride at 100% of your ability. the instructors can find your flaws quicker if they can see you at your personal limit. | ||

I attended the Penguin Race School, last July on my 900SS/SP Duck, in Loudon. It was great and the class time was very useful, I though. I had never been on a track before, so it was a real benefit to sit in a classroom, learn some theory, and ask questions. The last two runs were in the pouring rain, but I missed them, due to technical difficulties. I suggest it to anyone wanting to start riding on a track, big fun. |
