People are always asking about how to do wheelies and make them better. Well its time for a change.

Stoppies...
I can do them. I can get the back tire 3 - 4 ft in the air. Now I wanna roll and maybe go a bit higher. Any Suggestions?

Squeeze progressively harder on the front brake until the rear wheel leaves the ground. Squeeze harder to make it lift more. Release pressure if it gets higher then you are comfortable.

Do NOT squeeze too suddenly. Doing so can cause a front wheel lock up. You need to achieve some weight transfer to the front wheel b/4 a maximum brake application can be made w/o causing a lock up. Squeeze the frame with you knees and avoid pressing heavily on the hand grips.

to carry one start at at a faster speed, but i suggest doing it slowly. I was like you and was able to do one as i was almost stopped and pick the rear tire up about three feet. Then I got the bright idea of trying it at about 30 miles per our. Rear end came up quick, and i hit about 1130 with the rear tire. I was completely off the rear brake and tetering on weather it was going to go over forwards. I then took about two years off from doing stoppies, and just recently started doing small ones again. have fun, and start small and progress slowly, and be prepared to crash!

This is Mrs. Buell 04. I tried one -- NOT ON PURPOSE -- with just 300 miles on my 06 Lightening Long. I had just traded for the Buell from an "04 Custom 1200 Sportster and the front brake is just a tad touchier! Lucky that I had a helmet on plus leathers because i just got a separated shoulder out of it but I had the wind knocked out of me pretty good. Really feels strange to look up and see 3 cop cars, 2 ambulances and a fire truck all waiting to pick ya up off the road. Plus a husband that looked in his mirror AFTER he heard the metal grinding on the road when i did the sommersault. It is definately not something I want to try again and not on purpose!

My g/f yells at me when i do wheelies.
she said she never wants to see my front tire off the ground. so today she saw my bike off the ground for the first time and she nearly died.
Funny thing, she loves watching people stunt, wheelies, drifting, stoppies, etc, etc...
Unless its me then i get yelled at

Make SURE your front tire is warm first....

Tried one on a 14 degree day about 100' into my ride and have one less front blinker...

It sounds like you are currently just popping a stoppie when the bike comes to a complete stop. I suggest that you dont do this......ever. You have zero control because you have no more forward roll.

To roll a stoppie (endo, etc) you need to be traveling about 50 mph. (not that I'm saying to bring the rear up at that speed....just follow along)

1. traveling 50ish
2. shift weight forward
3. pull clutch
4. squeeze front brake to settle suspension and set the tire
5. give progressively harder pressure on the brake
*note* you dont need to maintain the same amount of brake pressure once the rear tire is in the air as what it takes to get it lofted.

By the time you get to #5, and actually get the tire up you probably want to be traveling 35ish which is a good speed to get a decent roll.

REMEMBER - Start small

my brother has just broke his arm and had to have a plate inserted because of stoppie practice. over the years has also destroyed some really nice bikes.

The best way to do a stoppie?
Have some 13 year old s.o.b. come flying off the sidewalk right in front of you on a bicycle. Thats how I did one.
I don't know high the back tire went but I sure felt it come down.

I can do them for about 25 feet on my bicycle but not on my motorcycles.

My first stoppie was caused by a mustang, my back tire was almost up and over.

I'm thinking I should have kept that pile of crap Katana instead of giving it away. There's no way I'm trying this on my Buell

Did an unintentional stoppie this morning on the way to work. They're milling the eastbound lanes on the Long Island Expressway east of Route 110. For some idiotic reason, everybody has to slam on their brakes to slow from roughly 70 mph to 30 when they hit that section. WTF?? I can understand being a little hesitant on a motorcycle when riding over grooved pavement, but in a CAR??

I swear Long Island drivers are some of the WORST in the country! The car in front of me just stopped short while I was looking over at the HOV lane and trying to anticipate where the entrance ramp was. HOLY ****!! Got on the brakes HARD and stopped about a foot from his bumper. A heart beat later I felt a "thump" and my first thought was that I got tapped from behind. In reality, it was my rear tire coming back to earth.

Sheesh, with a commute like that, who needs coffee??
