Well I had my first and hopefully last crash Thursday. I misjudged my entrance speed in a left hander. I went wide on the brakes hitting gravel and went down very quick. I was wearing my riding jacket so I could have been hurt a lot worse but I still broke my collar bone and scraped my knee pretty good. The bike is repairable. The handle bar and gearshift lever did most of the dragging. The frame has a small dent (where the frame puck should have been, Getting some next time). Otherwise not bad. Pray for a speedy recovery and just the right amount of fear to respect my abilities and still be able to enjoy riding. |

Al, glad you're alive. Lesson learned, I learned mine a few years back. Take care and heal fast. |

Been there crashed that! You will heal and the bike will get fixed. I bet that you won't do that again. |

Besides, now that you're at least going to (eventually) recover, you'll have that "credibility" bump that so many of us have on our collarbones! (though it's nice when it finally knits and stops clicking!) Seriously, good to hear that you AND the bike have just gotten dented a bit. |

I did almost the exact same thing on my Honda CBR a couple years back... Came around the apex which was also the peak of a hill and noticed a car stopped at the bottom of the hill approx 60-100ft away at a stop sign I didn't know was there. Hit the brakes, the bike stood up a bit and ran wide and into a rainwash. There I was trying to get the bike out of the deep groove carved by the rain and back onto the pavement, clipons slapping back and forth... As soon as I managed to get the bike on the pavement it threw me down onto the blacktop sliding to the bottom of the hill for about 30ft. Thank god for gear! All I suffered was a 2x2in patch of road rash on my forearm where my jacket sleeve pulled up out of my glove... Honda racing textile jacket still looked new after a wash... my gloves were torn to shreds, down to the thin inside liner under the leather! |

Thanks for the encouraging words. I am healing well and anxious to get back on the bike. |
