Well I took the advice of so many people here and installed a set of bar end mirrors on my bike. What a difference it makes! The bike is really no wider now than my BMW K1200LT with them installed so it doesn't affect my lane-splitting ability that much (not that I'd EVER do anything illegal like that here in New York...). The mirrors stay clear at all rpms, and I now have a clear, unobstructed view of everything behind me in either lane. As a side benefit, I am now FINALLY able to adjust my brake and clutch levers where I want them; with the stock mirrors I had to have them higher than I like otherwise the mirrors would give me a lovely view of the sky! Only issue now is that the mirrors seem to have changed the "harmonics" of the handlebar and I now feel a bit more vibration than I used to. That's strange, because I thought the bar end design would result in LESS vibration. Guess that's why I'm NOT an engineer. It was also a first class B*TCH getting the throttle side adjusted correctly so I wasn't binding up the throttle grip with the mirror mount. Got that finally straightened out too. Now I just need to get those black plastic plugs to fill in the holes left by the stock mirrors. Someone said I can get them at Lowes? Where would I find them (it's a BIIIG store!)?? Thanks! Jaimec I installed a "BAR SNAKE" to quell the vibration. I found the plastic plugs at Lowes among the auto interior fasteners - all sizes. I installed plugs with wider heads than the mirror base - they make a great place to hook a bungee cord. I really like the mirrors. | ||

Jaimec, i have those same mirrors but i havent been able to get the throttle not to bind. What was your solution?? ... oh and hate to mention it but if you picked those mirrors up from the website you linked you paid 9 dollars too much per mirror! American Sport Bike would have given them to you for 9 less plus included the plugs for free.... just a thought | ||

Live and learn... Oh well. I didn't see them in the American Sport Bike online catalog (and I did look... guess I didn't look hard enough). As for the throttle binding, I loosened up the throttle grip housing, and with GREAT effort, much cursing, swearing and grunting, was able to shove it over the 1/8" I needed to get the grip end clear of the handlebar beneath it. Once I tightened it down, I was able to install the barend mirror with no binding problems at all. | ||

yep, those are great mirrors, have them on my bike and they are awesome for the interstate as far as field of vision with a full face helmet on. A lot less twisting the head to the side and having my visor flip up! And I also had the throttle binding up but I just loosened the throttle side and slid it over. I've bumped them many times on things like doors, fences, etc. (don't ask) and you can just click em back in place and they look good! | ||

Local Ace Hardware had those little black plastic caps to fill in the screw holes left by the stock mirrors. Took the 1/4" size, at $.23 each. | ||

i stopped my throttle from binding by moving the kill switch housing .(drill new hole about 1/8- 3/16 " closer to the center of the bike!) | ||

I have a set of these on the wife's BMW K75S and loved them, so I picked up a set (about $30 each) at my local jap bike shop for my firebole. I actually positioned the right mirror to catch the throttle slightly. It's a cheap man's cruise control, handy on long rides!  | ||

I bought a large plastic washer and placed it between the throttle grip and bar-end mirror. You can barely see the washer (black) and nothing hangs, catches, or sticks. |
