I LOVE YOU SPARKY!
WANNA HAVE A COUPLE KIDS OR SOMTHIN?!!
I switched the key relay with the ignition relay and wala oil light!!
Still no fuel pump but it DID turn over!
So I'm guessing its just the ignition relay thats bad right.
Lemme guess these are "special" relays that ONLY a dealership can get for like 35$ right?
PLEASE tell me I can go get one at napa or sumthin so when the stealership comes to get my bike the tow will be free.

Oh this is painful.

Please learn something from all this great troubleshooting advise. I wouldn't have the patience to go without my bike for 3 weeks or whatever it's been.

Good luck on finding a relay.

Aha, good results! Hey, well I'm glad you found at least part of the problem. That makes my day!

Cheesebeast posted 5/25 in this thread that these relays can be had for around $5 from the dealer. But I'm sure they can be replaced by a generic auto parts item if you want to go that route. See if NAPA can cross-reference the part number.

Hi Buelltroll. Sparky gave you great advice on marking and switching the relays.

I am sorry that I don't know the part number for the relays. The -00B (old version) is important, however, and you have one upgraded -00C version relay. If I was you I would buy three of them and use the extra hole in the block to hold a spare.

The old relay I have on hand also has a S7172 number on it if that helps any.

These relays are easy to fry if you clean your bike with too much enthusiasm/water pressure. Ask me how I know....

Bring in the relay to the dealership and you will walk out with a handful of them.

Happy trails!

Oh, and the part number is 3152(something- can't read it)-00C

That is why I put it down as 3152X-00B

Part number from original Parts List catalog is 31522-00B. This number may be superceded however, as was pointed out.

Found a universal relay, SME701939, on NAPAonline.com that looks like it has the right number of terminals and is about the same color, but I don't know the exact size, what voltage it is, how much current it can switch, etc. Perhaps taking the Buell relay to NAPA and comparing it side to side with NAPA's would help. Also, there is a schematic printed on the side of the relay, so they should match hopefully. And I'm sure they would allow a resistance reading on the coil terminals 85 & 86 to see if the reading is the same as Buell's to make a sale. But, it's $12.95 online. About twice Buell's price, so...

Guideras had TWO.
I bought em both.
Put one in the ignition and STILL no fuel pump when I hit the key...(DAMNIT IT WASN'T JUST THE RELAY)!!!
Put the other one in the key n WALA FUEL PUMP BLISS!!!
Runs like a champ (except for the tail wagging because of my fragged tires).
Guess I'll be RIDING in for that 10k service!
I MIGHT be getting tired of the brand and don't care for some of the "politics" of this board but I somehow doubt the 1098 boards are even half as helpful
ANYTIME you're in NorCal hit me up I owe you a 6'r.
