I decided to take off the rear pegs and arm, and had a real issue getting the top bolts off, the bottom bolts were no problem, but the top ones were twice as long. I got the left one off with a little elbow grease, and then went to take off the right one and after a half an hour trying to get it off I ended up snapping the bolt off, 3/4 of it still in the bike. What the hell do I do know it I want to put them back on down the road. Sugestions anyone. | ||

Take that side rail off the bike and soak the broken bolt with your favorite penetrating oil. Take the correct size eazy out and drill and have at it. or take the side rail to a local machine shop and have it removed. Should be cheaper than buying easy outs and such if you do not already have them. | ||

When I took off my pegs from my 06 lighting I found out that 2 of the bolts were threaded into the tail frame and their was a nut under the seat that held on an additional bracket, So if you tried to turn the alen head from the outside without removing the nut first you would not be able to get the bolt to turn. I almost did the same thing as you but I then removed the nut completely thinking the bolt would then just drop out, only to find that it still needed to be broken loose from the frame. Kinda weird set up. I think if you drill the center of the bolt and use and easy out and it should come right out. | ||

Weird. My Ss just had 2 bolts in each peg bracket, both facing outside-inward. No problem at all to take off...? ~SM | ||

Same with my Ss. Only the 2 socket bolts per side. | ||

I never leave home without my passenger pegs. They make great spares for when the stock cast taiwanese pegs break off. |
