Buell made the bike I see many of you begging for in the near future (Bigger fuel tank, Longer Wheel Base and about 30 more horse power all while keeping the same handling prowess) Suppose all those radical inclusions drove the price up to about 12 to 13 grand. Would you still buy this new Buell, or the new Ducati 1098 for a few grand more?

If it were in the style of the Uly with all its ability, just an all around up size, I'd stay with the Buell without hesitation.

A Firebolt Long would be nice, but I probably wouldn't trade in the one I've already got...

If they made another as reliable and as badass as my 04XB12S then maybe.

I'm not trading in my current bike for anything ... I just might add another to the stable.

I would heavily consider it when I an in the market for a new bike. Should be the next year or two. But I wouldn't run right out and get it.

Still buy the Buell, I like riding my bike not maintaining it.

Have yall noticed they are marketing the new Duc's as 50% lower maint. costs!

I would probably go for the Ducati this time around. It is one of the hottest bikes I've seen in years and is also being sold at an unbelievable value.

I don't know that I want that bike. Although with 4 bikes, I am always looking to add another! But I like my '03 XB9r, it is just the right size, and really fun in the turns. Why make it bigger? More power? There are lots of things you can upgrade in both engine and suspension. I think I'll stick with what I got till I really learn to lean it over!

The 999 and the 1098 are both too track oriented. My arms are too short and legs too long to ride them for any length of time on public roads.

i like the extra horsies idea, but i LOVE my short wheelbase. MAYBE if it was no longer than the SS. But, I'd buy the Buell before the 1098. i like the Buell a lot better naked than the Duc. (fairings are for dressers!)

i'm stoked with my CityX, though. I'll keep her indefinitely. She's already outlasted 3 women. : )

I think I would go buell because I would rather make my house payment than pay for my new ducati's oil change.

Why is every one so misinformed on ducati..

My friend has had his monster for years... Does all his own work on the bike...

all 2007 have reduced maintenance costs by 50%

If Buell were to build a bike competitive with the liter class race replicas power-wise and retain the handling they've already got, I'd be willing to pay a 20% premium over the jap bikes just because it was a Buell, and I'd order one on the spot as soon as it was confirmed they were available.

I would trade up ASAP! To have a Buell to hang with the liter bikes, shoot count me in! I'll always stay Buell (I do want a Harley cruiser too though)

I'll keep my Ss for a while.
I lack the self control to ride the racer bikes and I like the ease of service with my Buell.
Ducati's do sound badass though.

I like ducs. The new 1098 is sexy hot. Plus I love the classic cafe racers. If I had the extra cash (perhaps after I finish grad school) or not... damn student loans, I would pick up a Sport 1000 Biposto, hot ducati cafe racer very classy and so pretty. That's not to say my bike isn't sexy hot cause she is... Yeah I'm biased. heheheh wow too much coffee this a.m.

Duc +1. Agree with Teddagreek also. Work can be done yourself (yes even the valves). Now price for parts are the kicker. The only thing that chaps my ass about the 1098 is the swingarm. Sweet shape, but who the hell welded it?? Anyone else notice that?? Otherwise.....I need time alone.

they still need to make a water cooled bike before I worry about. but 2008 model year bikes will be coming out soon. I'd be surprised. Not shocked. Just surprised.
Buell needs to do something new. the day will come sooner or later. We have what? A few months until we find out?

Well I suggest if you know something you keep it to yourself. I personally don't want to be the cause of some one being shit canned.
That is, of course, if you know something others do not. Besides that, the dealer show is the weekend of Homecoming and I find it EXTREMELY hard to believe Buell will let that cat out of the bag BEFORE the show. The Tour of the factory is before the dealer show.
Loose lips sink ships.

I'd probably go with the Duc, because I am not going to buy in the first round of an engine that has had 30 HP added. Always liked Italian bikes, but doubt I would ever get rid of both of my Buells.

I'm a disgrace to my Italian heritage for saying this but I would choose my Buell over any past or current Ducati.

Anything over 100 mph is instant bike confiscation now so I stay below (barely) 100 on the street (long barren rural areas clear of homes & people etc..)even when I think it's safe to go faster.

So... I don't think a Duc is as good as a Buell for MY intended use. But that's just me and that's my answer to the question. : )
