Has anyone done this? Or would this be a performance back step?
Thanks...
Matt

I thought it was not compatible due to the "interactive" flappy thing in the 12 muffler.

That's the muffler. The header can be done. I plan on doing it on my race bike. I was told by a Buell Engineer that it will help with the top end a little. Worth a try.

If its good for top end thats fine but what does it do to a stock nine on the bottom and the middle where these bikes shine the most??

Are you positive it was a Buell engineer? Smaller diameter headers generally choke top end horsepower NOT increase it!}

BTW I think there is already a thread on this subject.

I think he's going the other way, are the 12 headers not larger?

O7xb12scg'

The 9 pipes are smaller for good reason. Now if Rocco is thinking of doing a build and if I know him well enough he is then the 12 pipe will do the job nicely. But bone stock.... It may hinder some bottom end and its juicy middle. And as far as a Buell engineer??? Rocco knows a few.... we both live 4o minutes from the factory and have some friends...

Umm, last I looked, the header on a 12 is larger. Not by leaps and bounds, but somewhat.
Dana, I don't believe it will flatten out the mid range enough to be concerned. And if it does, I'll slap the 9 header back on.
Since when does starting a 2nd, 3rd, or 200th post on a subject matter here on the Badweb?

Buell Engineers? Yeah, I know a few. Some better than others. Helped one rebuild his race bike over the weekend. That's were the discussion came up. I usually trust their opinions.

Even if it is 1/8" larger it should be noticeable. Not visually, but emotionally. My stock car runs a "stepped" header, and each step is only slightly bigger diameter.
