The Crossroads brake and foot pedals are a tasty upgrade for any XB, but the stylish Buelligan may have discovered by now that the aluminum toe peg on the shifter can really mess up your new loafers by leaving an aluminum colored mark on them.

I had previously posted a solution involving putting a black shrink wrap on the offending peg, but, as everyone but me suspected, this quickly wore out.

So I designed this custom peg. Cost about three bucks.

Parts:
1. 5/16" x 24 x 1 3/4" stainless bolt
2. 8 mm stainless washer
3. 5/16 " black rubber fuel line
4. 5/16" x 24 stainless nut.

xxXx

Install took about 15 minutes.

First I rounded off the head of the bolt so it would not scratch my new boots. I just used a medium disc on my 1/4" drill.
.
Then I cut the tube to length -1 7/8".

Finally, I slid the tube over the bolt with a bit of organic lubricant, (spit), fit the washer at the end of the bolt, screwed it into the lever, applied a bit of blue Loctite, and finished with the locking nut on the other side of the lever.

Looks like this.

The fastidious Buelligan might want to bevel the outboard end of the rubber tube.

Try to make sure the words " Fuel Line" point down, looks a bit more professional that way, am I right?

"the stylish Buelligan..."

Looks just like the toe-peg for a cheap bastard with a tuber and size 11 feet...

Thank you for that very astute observation Danny.

Not that there is anything the matter with being "cheap".

FLASH - THIS JUST IN FROM THE COAST!

Al Lighton, the estimable owner of American Sport Bike, a sponsor and now manufacturer of the Crossroads line of Buell accessories has noted the following.

Al is experimenting with industrial strength shrink wrap, and feels he may have found one that is more suitable than the el cheapo stuff that I used.

If and when Al has found a suitable product, it will be offered for sale on his site.

Stay tuned, sports fans!

I had a pair of pegs made out of stainless steel. No more marks on my shoes. I really didn't have a choice as I lost one while riding down the highway.

Jon, I am still trying to get over the fact that you used XB and loafers in the same sentence. Please tell me you don't really ride wearing loafers.

It's okay... he uses pirate spats with them when he rides.

Thank you SO much, Danny!

You understand so well that no gentleman ever feels very comfortable discussing his own haberdashery.

PS: Real nice shot of the spats !

yers sure does look nicer than mine though... roadside repairs often come without the frivolity of grinders and time. : )
