I was gonna re-torque the flywheel sprocket nut while I was performing a service and I phoned the (not so) local dealer for some gaskets etc.

2 off primary inspection cover gaskets
2 off gear shifter shaft seals
1 off main primary cover gasket

They have told me that their records do not show a gasket between the main primary cover and engine casing.

My question is : Can this be right?

Surely not metal to metal or gasket sealing compound.

Can some of you guys advise?

You mean they told you there is no gasket between the primary cover and engine case?

If so Turn around and go to another dealer ASAP.

Yes there is a gasket and it is kind of a rubberized steel, I have re-used this type about 4 times without any trouble so far, but take great care not to kink or bend it

I second that. I just replaced my Stator and there most certainly is a gasket between the Primary cover and the engine case. I'm not sure where that tech would have been looking, but it sure wasn't a parts book.

Cheers for the info. I thought there must have been a problem but I can't access my workshop manual / bike at the moment to check.

I think I'll see if I can get my hands on a parts manual.

Thanks again.
