so far it looks like I'm going to place the velcro strips over my gas cap, unless anyone else has a better location. I've heard that its not very reliable to keep it in your coat or in a pocket

I just keep mine in my jacket. I usually try and take it out and hold in my hand if possible to prevent an issue with it not working, but i did it twice in my jacket accidently and it worked.

I just throw change in the exact change bucket. No worries about the pass, I just keep a change pouch handy.

In the secret compartment of my Buell tank bag. Isn't that what that pocket is for? Works every time! The tank bag seems to be at just the right angle for the sensor to pick it up. It worked about 60% of the time with the Buell tankbag for my M2 Cyclone, but it works all of the time with the tankbag on my XB12Ss.

I put mine in the map case of my tank bag, only rarely does it fail to pick up. Usually when I forget to apply enough brake.

I stick mine to the windshield. I've got both the regular and the tall windshield and I put the velcro-sticky-lock stuff on both of them. I haven't had any problems with it falling off or anything - and I was told the motorcycle EZ-Pass is waterproof (seems to be the case). You might want to keep an eye on your account - I've had it read my transponder but tie it to the class of vehicle in front of me many times. Interesting to get hit up for about 15 bucks (big rig) on what should've been a $1 toll. I'm pretty conscious about staying back but it still happens.

Oops - I've got a Uly (forgot I was on the XBoard)...

By the way, on my M2 Cyclone there was enough space behind the flyscreen to mount the cordlock strips and pop the EZ-pass up behind it. Worked great (and it was completely invisible to naked, prying eyes, too). I don't know if there is enough room behind the flyscreen of the XB Lightning though... I haven't looked. The tankbag was a simple enough solution.

I got one of these, works fine, not too clunky looking and a lot of harley shops carry them if you don't want to mail order.

I suction mine right to the inside of my windshield (XB12R) and have no problems with it.

I haven't committed myself to getting an ipass yet cuz I'm waiting for the day the IL starts issuing speeding tickets using tollgates-to-tollgates as time/checkpoints. Not that I'd speed, it just irks me.

Barring that, as I have a 9 with a 12 inner airbox, I figure I'd put it in that little well where the 12 muffler servo goes. Tucked in nice an Totally out of sight.

Actually, if you don't want to attach anything to your bike, and you don't trust carrying it in your pocket, I know several people who've had success with something like this: https://www.artpromos.com/detail.asp?id=1321&depti d=82

Mounted mine (XB12s) behind the flyscreen with two-sided tape. Ya Don't even know it's there. Works great.

Wow funny I just tried mine out the other day in my back pack. Its top load back pack so the top flap has a little pocket in it and I put it in that. The first day I went through real slow and I tilted my head down and it worked. But the second day I was going a little faster and I did not tilt my head as much and it gave me the yellow light. I think if you go slow enough it will work. But when I get the tank bag I will put it in that.

Yeah, I just ordered a see through pouch from aerostich that I can loop through my shoulder strap on my backpack. I've been for the last year just taking it out of my jacket and holding it up as I coast through. Def don't want that thing attached anywhere on my bike...

I have an 07 XB9SX. The E-Z pass will fit under the fly screen. Has anyone tried this, and does it read consistently?

I don't see why not. It was read consistently through the flyscreen of my M2 Cyclone! As long as there's nothing metallic in front of the EZ-Pass it should pick it up fine.

I just stick it my pocket. The only time it didn't work was when I had facing the wrong way.
