I am keen on purchasing a XB12R but am concerned that I may be too big for the bike given its short wheelbase. I have had a MV Agusta 750 Brutale and just couldn't get comfortable as I felt I was all over it like a rash. (The MV is 94 mm longer in the wheelbase than the Firebolt) I am 6 foot and 200 pounds. I love the bike but I don't want to find myself in the same position as the MV. Any comments from riders my size?

I just rode a couple 12R's and I am 6'3" and 208 and it was just dandy for me.. sure the frame could be a hair longer... but not too bad

I am 6' 240 and have a XB12R and I love it. The bike fits me really well, but a lot of that is just personal preference.

I'm 6'0 225.....no problems at all, you can't look at the wheel base, it's misleading.

I am about the same size, and I think that the longer wheelbase models are more suitable for the larger rider.

I might suggest that you try the TT.

I know it isn't an R model, but it is perhaps the best handling Buell for the bigger rider due to its longer wheelbase, different fork angle and especially, its better sorted suspension.

I was a bit puzzled by the TT when it first appeared, waterwings and all, but a test ride at March Badness convinced me that is a very good handling bike indeed.
A recent test in Road Racing World came to the same conclusion.

PS: The waterwings come off in 5 minutes flat.

I rode an F4 early this year and it felt very small, even compared to my Firebolt. As you'd expect, the MV is very uncompromising and only has one riding position.

The Buell has a Tardis-like ability to fit a wide range of shapes and sizes. I'm 6'2" 190 lbs and have no problems whatsoever with the riding position

I am 6' and it did bother my knees a little on long rides. I put the S pegs on and haven't had a problem since.

I'm 5'10" 210 and the Lightning is perfect for me. Go for it! It has enough grunt to haul you and another around (lady of course!) and hopefully not the same weight.

I am 6-1 and 225 and had a 12Scg. The suspension wasn't up for the challenge so I swapped with someone from BadWeb and had the Pro Series Spring Kit installed. It's a completely different bike and I have no complaints at all with the suspension.

6' 4" - 260 lbs, I love my R. You may want to buy a set of the Lightning pegs (~$30) to get yourself a little less bend in the knee. With that simple mod, I have nothing to complain about.

I switched from a 99 Lightning to a 07 Firebolt12R this year and love it .Clocked 400 miles through the central New York twisties yesterday with no pain or discomfort.By the way I'm 5'10 and 270 pounds(so of course I've got a big mid section) and have no problem reaching the bars and the lean angle isn't bad at all. I just sold my ZX7 because I had to suck in my stomach and hold my breath to reach the bars .

I'm 6 02 and weigh 215. My XB12R fits me just fine but, I also added the lighting foot pegs which made the bike much more comfortable.

dan,
you have an admirer, my wife's younger sister (cute, petite, blonde)was looking through the mb4 pics and kept asking who the "hot guy" was. i was assuming she was asking about one of the young guns on the gsxr's and she's like no not the "boys" the "big guy". i told her your wife had a baby two weeks before the trip, she was bummed(she loves to ride too!). you can tell your wife, "see honey i still got it!" then duck to avoid the flying shoe.
