damn, i guess i cant spell firebolt today, lol

not sure what i think of the new fairing. obviously still have to paint it and smooth some edges.

think i'm going to leave it on like this for a few days and see if it grows on me. right now it just seems even more odd because im not used to it.

The one side shot reminds me of "THE FLY"

I'd say if you could somehow bring it closer to the forks it would be pretty sweet.

I like it a lot! It reminds me of a more sporty S. Paint it black and you've got a winner. It makes me think about R headlights on my S. Hmmmmm Anyone done this? I know there are plenty of complaints about the R headlights but they look much better! Sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread

i have been trying a few different ways to make a cover for the sides so you cant see all the wiring, but not much is very realistic. i wanted to move the fuse boxes up under whats left of the support, but the wiring loom running into them is a little to hard to bend around the way i need it. everything also starts to hand lower even though i have some extra room where the horn was.

By no means do I mean this to be offensive, but from the side it looks like E.T.'s head. I'll give you props for originality and creativity. Maybe it's the contrasting colors that throwing my mind for a loop. The matted olive green looks amazing - very personalized! Actually, the more and more I look at it, it has a lizard appearance.
Hell, if it grows on ya - I say go for it - you can always swap it back over!
By the way - what made you decide to do this anyway?

thats what i was thinking to, the blue sticks out like a sore thumb. if it was color matched dont think it would be so prominent.

i was thinking it looked kind of like a preying mantis, lol.

i have been needing something to change and had been running an idea around in my head for awhile. i wanted a smaller streetfighter style faring, but didnt want to get VERY in depth and have to cut wires and such to fit things. wanted to keep the characteristic firebolt front end look while changing it up a bit. i also like that i can change it back fairly easily.

i am going to paint the fairing support also, but havent decided if i will go flat black or green to match. i think black s it isnt as noticable.

That's just weird enough looking for me to like it. My first impression was WTF!! But after I looked at it for a minute, it grew on me. Many props for originality.

I thing it will look pretty good, especially when you get it painted.

I am not sure if I like it yet. I think I have to look at it longer, maybe matching the paint would make it look better. By the way Do you have a hard time keeping the mat paint job clean? I was going to paint my CityX mat orange, but changed my mind at the last minute. The painter said it would probably look good, but it would be hard to keep looking good so I went with the normal finish. I will probably kick myself in the a$$ for not sticking to my original idea.

I had thought about doing something similar to this, but in my thoughts were to keep the lower mounting points, where the blinkers normally go through, to cover up the side view. I like the front view, but I think a tiny bit higher would look better. I might have to start thinking about it a bit more now that I have a better idea of what the results might look like. Good job though, once the paint goes on and you black out the mount it will really come together

BuellFly...I love it. If that doesn't get a second look nothing will. I say paint it, ride it, and if you don't like it you can always go back to stock since you had forethought enough not to use your original piece for the mod.

I have been debating on something similar. My idea requires that the electronics be moved under the tail ala Lightning and using the S dash/mounts.

BTW the N2O bottles look great.

If you have a source for it in your area ABS plastic sheets are easily mold-able with
a heat gun. Ridoout plastics in San Diego was my old source for it last time I did
that kind of fabrication work. 1/16th thick should do the trick, and you could
probably find what you need in their remnant
piles and buy them at around scrap rates.

Just an idea, failing that, fiberglass is pretty user friendly too...

Brundle-fly meet brundle-bike. You going to bob up the rest of it to continue the streetfighter look?

i think you had one just like it cereal...

well i have been sanding on it some more and trying to round up a few little things so i can paint it and run it atleast for now. so how it looks painted and go from there i guess. the main downside is it looks like i might not be riding for a couple days: ( well i could put the original stuff back on, but that would be alot of changing back and forth just to ride it to and from work for a few days.

Side profile reminds me of the mask worn by the Predator. All that is missing is the alien dreadlocks. I also thought Praying Mantis.

When the paint is matched, I think it will be quite appealing.

I think it looks pretty cool, but would look even cooler with just a sliver (maybe 1-2" high) of smoked windscreen sticking up all the way across the front.
