I was wondering what you guys would recommend for a new seat for my low. The stock seat is good for spankings, but not really built for comfort.

Please post links or pics if you can.

I have an XB9SX. I'm pretty sure they have the same sub-frame. I think your choices are (in increasing height):
1. Low seat (brick)
2. The Streetfighter
3. Stock Lightening seat
4. The Select seat
5. Stock CityX seat

I rode a XB12S with the Streetfighter on it and it was lower than the stock seat (a bit wider though) and very comfy. With an inseam just over 29", I can almost completely flat foot with the Low seat and the Streetfighter had me pretty close too.

If you've got the inseam for it, the CityX seat is pretty thickly padded and the height gives you a great view when you're in traffic

Dutch,

I'm about as tall as you. I have a 30" inseam. I'm not really looking to get higher, but more padding for the rump.

I believe I looked at the select seat on another low, but can't remember.

Thanks for the suggestions

chinashop,
I have a 30" inseam and wanted a lower seat for my XB12R. I went to Corbin and had it done. The seat is actually a bit lower but tons more comfortable (R seat was a plank. I don't know if they make one for the low) I don't know if the seat is different than the "standard", but if they don't, I have seen that they have borrowed seats/bikes that they don't have seats, bags, etc... for and use them to build a prototype. Once they get it all dialed in, you get to keep the prototype for free.

Oh, by the way, the Corbin actually makes me "stand" higher at a stop because it is "bowled" out, but it "sits" lower while riding and my but locks in well when I scoot back 3/4 of an inch and I can easily hang off if I scoot up just a bit. It's perfect. I had it built up from stock at no extra cost at the factory.

The one that you saw on my bike was the streetfighter...like i said before a lot more padding but there is a small height increase...nothing that can't get used to

Matt, did you get that through Hal's? I can handle moving up another 1/2" or so.

I have the select seat on my S low. I love it. It did raise me up a bit. I have a 32 inch inseam. Fits me perfect.

Red, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Select leave a tad bit more room for a passenger?

Sounds like you have a LOT of fun on your bike! ;)

The select seat does have more passenger room but not much. All it does is make me date thin women: )

I'm lucky in that respect, size 0-1, 5-6, 102 lbs. Said my stock seat end looks like a tongue.

I might take that as a compliment! The select seat also gives a little more heat protection. I am happy with it. I have never sat on the Corbin.

The only Corbin I've seen is the Gunfighter I believe. I really don't like the snubby end of it.

I'm in the same boat as you buellinachinashoo. I have been going back and forth between a custom and the streetfighter seat. I can't take any more than about 3/4" added seat height on my scg.

I actually took my original seat to an auto/motorcycle upholstery shop and he took the original padding out and put more, softer padding in. It made the seat much more comfortable, didn't raise me up any, and I actually sit in the seat without getting bumped around like I did with the original seat.

I didn't want to spend $200 on a new seat and then have it too tall. This was a great alternative.

And it only cost $75

A guy I know with an SV always gives me crap about the size of the passenger seat on mine. I just tell him that its keeps the right kind of girl on the back

I told my girlfriend that I'm going to make the "tongue" on the end of the seat a giant slab of velcro, but she needs to sew the other half to the ass of her jeans.

I have the Select seat on my 12Scg. It "looks" a lot taller compared to the low seat but it squishes down a bit when you sit on it. I'd say it is close to but not quite an inch taller than the stock low seat when sat on.

Nice, that will make a good sound when it is peeled off the seat!
