Bike has reduced power and starts missing around 5500 rpm. It cuts out a little after 6000 rpm, kind of like it is hitting the rev limiter. I replaced the plugs, checked for an intake leak and checked all ground wires for chaffing. Any other suggestions? Ken |

Check the connections on the battery. I know it sounds stupid because, "why would it only start missing at high rpms?" but it has happened to quite a few people. Hope that does the trick. |

There was another Badweber that had a similar problem. Check the top of the throttle body and make sure the velocity stack has not come loose from the throttle body. |

Thanks guys, I had not thought of some of those suggestions. I read the thread Davey and you are right, similiar issue except mine doesn't cut completley out it just misses like it's hitting the rev limiter. I'll check it all again this weekend. The weird thing is though it was running fine and then I didn't ride it for a couple of weeks and when I did is when it started running bad. I'll post results Monday.... Thanks Ken |

i had a very similar problem, the bike ran great when it was cold, once it got hot it would not rev past 4500 just like it was hitting the limiter. occasionally it would just die while running down the road. if i switched the run switch to off and back to on it would be running again like nothing happened. anyway my problem was the little pickup under the timing cover. it wouldn't set a trouble code but it was around $50 and fixed the rev limiter problem. |

Well I checked the velocity stack and it was fine, I did have a loose plug wire that I re-crimped for now and I tightened up my battery connections. I was pulling my airbox and noticed the airbox cover was cracked on the tip where the bolt goes. Anyway I haven't had a chance to ride you but I'll let you guys know. Ken |

Yep, plug wire must have been the problem. I rode to work today and it ran fine. Thanks for all your help, good to hear from you again Nick. Now if I just can find someone to swap thier "R" parts for my "S" parts I'll be fine. Ken |

So how did you fix that regarding the plug wire? Changed to new set of wires? |

I had 2 order a set but I re-crimped them for now. The center wire had worked it's way loose. Ken |

Well it worked fine for a couple of days but it's doing it again. Weird thing is it only does it in 5th and 6th at 5000rpm. I've taken it up to redline in all the other gears and it doesn't do it in 1 - 3. Kinda makes me wonder if it's not the wires and something else. Ken |

replaced the plug wires with new ones and it is still doing it, so I have to start from scratch on finding the problem. |
