What is the deal on taking a passenger such as a girlfriend on the back of a 12scg - I just don't think it will work ? The firebolt has the facility to do it - is there a firebolt back end I can buy for a 12scg ? Will this make it easier for taking passengers - I pretty sure the xb12r & 12scg are the same apart from cosmetic changes right ? Cheers | ||

you have to move around some stuff to swap the tails. actually a fair amount of people think the lightnings are better for passenger seats. either work fine. depends on the person. my gf has spent a few hours straight plenty of times on the back of my firebolt with little to no complaints. | ||

Oh, yeah. And the swap is very simple. Do a search for it. There at least a dozen threads discussing the swap one way or the other. I traded my tail with another badwebber a few months ago. | ||

Putting an R tail on an S is pretty simple, yet time consuming. The sub-frame bolts right on, no problem. The electronics on the other hand, are a bit of a problem. All the electrics on the S are under the seat, on the R, in the fairing. You have to figure out where to put everything. That being said, I swapped the battery cables so they would reach. I put the ECM just above the battery. I put the Bank Angle Sensor just above the ECM. I split the fuse box in half, having to make one wire longer, then put the box back together long ways. I cut the "trunk" and put the fuse box and the scan tool connector in the "trunk". I also had to make the wires to the blinkers and tail light longer, so I could hide the wires. Also had to swap the rear brake master cylinder and reservoir. That's about it in a nutshell.   MrsG wouldn't ride with me on the old S tail, now she wants to ride with me most everywhere. | ||

I hear ya Jon, it was a very busy time indeed. Very clever install. I have to give credit where credit is due. Silverbullet, did the swap to his XB12Ss, and came up with the fuse box idea. Now there's a complicated (relatively speaking) swap, the frame of the Ss is wider than the standard XB. The picture in your profile rocks! Gixxer Corner? Jwhite, that was right after the swap. The passenger pegs are a quick mount when needed, and the hard shell is really a cover for the passenger seat. | ||
