Anyone space out the right side air plate thing. I wouldn't really call it a scoop?

I have done it and it makes a difference. Its a free mod and on the move it probably directs 50% more air towards the rear cylinder. Certainly the fan stays on for less time after switching off than before the mod. This is in 'cool' europe so I can't talk for hotter climates.

I did it also, I just used some spacers between the frame and scoop and bought some longer bolts.
I also had to slightly trim the slit at the rear of the scoop where it goes to the frame.

RIGHT SIDE SCOOP RIGHT SIDE SCHMOOP

I’ll disagree.
I have the RSS and it makes a huge difference.
Perhaps if the weather is cool then yes, no advantage.
But if like down here where it gets to constantly 40 + Degrees C (104 Degrees F I think) in the summer time, then it makes an enormous difference.

I don’t mind spending some money on an accessory that actually serves a purpose and looks good.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I have a carbon fiber rss from American Sports Bike. I don't care what anyone says it WORKS!! That annoying a$$ fan hardly ever comes on now. I actually began to think the fan was broke until it finally came on the other day. It may be expensive but worth it in my opinion!

I just took the trim off where the RSS would go and that made a difference. As for the scoop people have talked about from out of the country that looks just like the left one, with the exchange rate it's just under $400. Crazy. Not me, I'm happy with my bike the way it is for $400.

With the exchange rate it is about $277 to your door. For the fit, finish, and quality of it, it is well worth it. Plus it is arguably functional too.

Don’t know where the $400 comes from.
Try around $250 US. I would think the freight may be even cheaper to the USA

I took my bike out yesterday for the first time with the new scoop and my fan didn't come on a single time. If it continues to keep my fan off, and obviously keep the rear cylinder cooler it is worth every penny. Just because it is expensive doesn't mean it can't work. If the gains are not enough for you to justify the costs don't buy one.

I also went with the Carbon Fiber right side scoop from American Sportbike, & can testify to the same results as other. My fan doesn't come on hardly ever. Made a huge difference, & I don't have to listen to that noisy fan

I wish there was a cheaper right side scoop than the carbon fiber. I want one, but don't need the carbon and would love a cheaper option. Plastic would be fine for me.

Last fall I was riding with another local bueller. I had the RSS and he did not. Both bikes similar mileage and ridden in the same manner. As we pulled up to stop signs his fan was running.....Mine was not. This happened all day.

Not all that scientific but good enough for me.

RSS is excellent.
Put mine on 2 months ago
and the fan only comes on when
I turn off the bike. So far its been up to
83 degrees outside and rode
in city traffic last weekend. No fan on
during the ride or in traffic or sitten
at stop lights.
I was told it would be a fanless summer
and so far it has.
Plus it looks damn bad with the LSS.

It works, fan is about half of what it was before. Don't know why Erik doesn't seem to like them, maybe hard to admit when your wrong or don't want to add another $200 to the price of the XB's. Either way, I think it should be stock just for looks alone, not to mention I can hear my riding buddy talk to me when we are stop lights now. I love my XB more than ever.

The big negative I hear is they do not work real well at parade speeds. Of course I rarely ride my bike at parades speeds. I don't think it has ever happened. It may happen in rush hour, you know the silly cagers wrecking into each other.

I am not doubting the effectiveness of the the RSS. It brings air directly to the rear cylinder-head, cooling it. The sensor does not trip, thus the fan does not operate. That tells me the head is cooler, thus some drop in engine temp should be noticed, right? So, I have a question... Has anyone noticed your engine/engine oil running cooler? By how much? I would think this an added benefit.

The fiberglass one is still like $230. To me, that's a lot for such a part. I mean I'd like an inexpensive RSS.
