I've heard some say that ceramic coating chips easily, however; the race pipe is ceramic coated, right? I haven't had any problems with mine. I want to get my header coated. Has anyone had problems with chipping?

I bought my coated header thru Al @ American Sport Bike a year ago. No problems since!

Edited post: I see you are from MD. Jet-Hot has a new location in southeast PA that may be of interest to you, so you wouldn't have to ship the headers cross country.http://www.jet-hot.com/Pages/contact.html

The stuff is rugged. My coater had two coated pipes on display, grabbed them, and smacked them together. There was no chip.

i coat everything. i hit the guardrail at mbiv with my (brand new...) ceramic coated pipe. the finish came off in that spot, but no actual chipping. it kinda got sanded off. no rough edges, though. it only came off where it smacked the rail.
it's VERY durable. just be sure to coat inside and out. makes a big difference in heat transfer and cooling. i can touch my pipes within a minute or two of turning off. if i did that to my rocker boxes at that point i'd get a 2nd degree on my fingers!!

I just coated my Uly muffler. http://hpcoatings.com/ did the work for me. Getting the muffler back on required smacking it repeatedly with a rubber hammer. It did not chip at all.

I would have loved to do the headers as well, but was intimidated by the amount of bike that needs to be removed to get the headers off.

i just got a new one from American Sport Bike and it looks great. was pretty easy to put on.required 2 retchet straps to the ceiling and a jack under the motor. took 2 hrs with some screwing around. went nice and smooth. i did notice that the ceramic one does not cool down in 10 mins. like the factory one though. any thoughts?

The ceramic is a good insulator. It keeps the heat from getting out so quickly.

I had the header tubes for my Micron Jet-Hot coated. They are local to me, I work in Pascagoula, MS. So far, no problems. Did a track day last weekend and it still looks like it should.
