Well I am in Japan now. After 4 long months of not being able to ride or start my bike I charge the battery and added some gas. I cycled the ignition a couple time to "prime" the fuel pump a little. Hit the starter and she fired right up on the first shot.

Now once I get settled in I plan on getting here Japan legal etc.
However my question is this. Since I cannot get any other gas on base except 87 octane.

Is it safe on my o2 sensor to properly mix a octane booster that states it ok for o2 sensors?

Thanks

I live here too and just run the high octane from the pump. Seems to run just fine.

By the way are you in the Tokyo area?

I am in Iwakuni.

We can only get the 87 oct on base here. Hence the post. Anyways I think in Oct there is a moto gp race up your way. I am going to try to make it.

Be sure the octane booster you choose is "o2 sensor safe" some are not.

Also, only use octane boosters if your bike is knocking with the lower octane fuel.

Do they compute octane ratings the same way in japan as they do here?

The higher the octane rating the harder it is to ignite the fuel, thus preventing pre-
ignition/knocking.
