That's right! Apparently Erik Buell has decided to source the Honda VFR V-4 engine for a future street bike! This should be AWESOME!!

Your story is slightly incorrect, it is not the Honda VFR V-4 engine that Buell has contracted to purchase. It is the Honda V-twin that produces 18H.P. @ 3000 rpms !! That engine has been in use for some years now powering the Honda generator line. Finally.....a powerplant to silence the H-D haters in the crowd !

You've got it all wrong! They signed with Ford to do a 6.4L twin turbo Powerstroke diesel Buell called the Firestroke or was it the Lightningstroke.
Anyway, it will have 650 lbs. of torque and capable of towing 24,000 lbs. off the gooseneck which will be located where the dreaded cheesegrater resides. Oh yeah, you can also get it in a dually!!!

I'm an insider at Buell so you should in no way feel mislead here! I speaking the truth - trust me!

Oh crap is it April 1st already? Gotta go Erik is calling!

Yup... it was an "April Fool's" posting. But why do you think Harley would have a problem with Buell sourcing engines from Honda but not have one sourcing engines from Rotax? If it's good enough for King Kenny Roberts, it's good enough for Erik!

I heard that Harley was going to use the Ford diesel to make the Bobstroke and the Fatstroke too.

Don't the Saturn Vue V6 engines come from Honda?

Reepicheep, I'm not positive, but I believe the VUE engines are made in China using the Honda specs. Don't quote me though.

Yes the Vue's V6 came from Honda, not sure about the China thing though. Also I can't remember what GM gave Honda for the engines either.

Not sure about the China thing, but the 3.5L V6 (engine L66) is from Honda. Its a SOHC that makes 250hp and 242tq. This engine will not be in the new 2008 Vue that goes on sale soon.

Since this is a hopeless tangented thread anyway...

Are the Vue's more like my near and dear SC2, easy to work on, durable as heck, reasonably priced parts?

Or are they like those Opal based travesties?

When the SC2 finally makes the $2000 "klonk" noise, I was looking at finding a Matrix/Vibe, but Toyota is really gouging on parts costs for my Sienna, and it is ticking me off. And the Matrix/Vibe seems a bit pricey for what it is.

So I looked a little further and it looks like you can get some low milage used V4 Vue's for about $10k... which if it's made as well as my 95 SC2 would be a great choice for me. Any experiences?

"GM gave Honda Diesel engines to use in Europe if I remember"

Yep, Honda got a 1.7L diesel for the Civic.

"Are the Vue's more like my near and dear SC2, easy to work on, durable as heck, reasonably priced parts?"

As much of a GM Fanboy I am, I'm not a mechanic so I honestly don’t know. The current Vue shares its platform with the Chevy Equinox and Pontiac Torrent. The 2008 Vue, like most of the new Saturn lineup is nearly identical to the Opel they are based off of.

The vibe is getting a redesign soon; nothing is official so I can't really say if it’s just a light reskin or if it’s a new car. There are some spy photos floating around of the new car heavily cammoed. Have you looked at the Chevy HHR? It’s in the same segment as the Vibetrix.
