Author Message   07bamafan Posted on Thursday, March 29, 2007 - 10:14 pm:        I just bought my 2007 XB9SX two weeks ago, and I will hit 1000 miles in a day or two. Can anyone give me advice about the 1000 mile service? I would like to do it myself for money reasons, but I don't know where to find any instructions on some of the maintenance procedures. Should I attempt to perform the maintenance myself, or would it be better to take it to the nearest dealer, 100 miles away? The thing is that from everything I have read the 1k service is a pretty import item to have done by buell. Everything after the 1k I will be doing.. well maybe I wont rebuild the forks but I will worry about that when the time comes. If you are still stuck on doing it yourself though I would suggest getting the factory service model from HD and go over the list of items that is listed in the owners manual. If you run into a snag im sure you will be able to find the answer here.   Nutsosane Posted on Thursday, March 29, 2007 - 11:07 pm:        You NEED to have the TPS reset during the 1k service. There might be a fellow Bueller in the area who can hook you up with a reset. Otherwise, off to the HD shop for you. If you were going to get one service, I'd say spring for the 1k. They adjust a number of things that might slip past the do-it-yourselfer. By the time you need the 10k you'll be well travelled in Badweb and more able to successfully complete the service. My advice use at your own risk. Staindus, I'm a big fan of the philosophy that "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." But the recommended service does require it. A TPS reset shouldn't be a problem, unfortunately there are incompetent techs who make it a problem. Hopefully Buell will continue to advance the state of the art in motorcycle EFI and for some future model, do away with the manual TPS reset that is not impossible to totally goof up.
