I ride with my trip1 meter showing for gas n trip2 for oil change intervals.
I hardly ever put it on odometer.
Today I did and realised I missed my 10 thousand mile service (witch I kinda knew was due a WHILE ago) AND my 15thousand mile service.
So I pretty much know everything that is supposed to get done on the 10k but what do they do for the 15?
I'll probably just schedule a 10k n have them do whatever else they do on 15k,But what should I tell the tech to look for without telling him I missed both?

15000 mile service is the same as the 5000 mile service. If you have the 10,000 mile service done. Everything will be covered.

The 10K interval services are the expensive ones. Unless you do it yourself.

Every 5000 miles it's oil and trans. Plus you lube the cable and check the primary chain tension.

10,000 is a bit more. Escapes me as to what you do.

Change engine oil and filter.
Inspect air cleaner, service as required.
Inspect brake pads and discs for wear.
Adjust primary chain.
Change transmission/primary chaincase
lube and clean drain plug.
Check Ignition timing.
Spark plugs.
Zero throttle position sensor (TPS).
Check engine idle speed.
Steering head bearing resistance test.
Adjust throttle cables.
Adjust clutch and clutch cable.
Check rear belt and idler pulley. Replace belt and
idler pulley every 25,000 miles. Inspect every 5000 mi.
Check front and rear tire pressure and inspect tread.
Clean oil cooler fins.
Change front fork oil.
Check brake fluid reservoir levels and condition.
Inspect front and rear brake caliper and master
cylinder for leaks every 5000 miles or two years.
Check operation of all electrical equipment & switches.
Inspect oil lines and brake system for leaks.
Lubricate front brake hand lever, throttle control cables,
clutch control cables (and hand lever), sidestand pivot,
and rear brake pedal bushing (if applicable).
Lube and adjust interactive exhaust system cable (12R).
Check tightness of all critical fasteners; hand controls,
brake system, front and rear axles, upper and lower
triple clamps, front fork components, engine mounts,
stablizers, rear shock.
Inspect motorcycle: Check front and rear brake lines,
oil lines, front forks, rear shock, exhaust system,
exhaust system mounting and evaporative emission
control if applicable.
Road Test.

Get out and RIDE!!!

450$ is the cheapest I've found it.
The tech swears hes done the 10k before and that he knows what hes doing.
I really do need to get it done the bike feels all bouncy n wobbly,I'm guessing the forks REALLY need re built.

Most of that bouncy wobbly is likely the steering head bearings in need of re-torquing in combination with the front rotor spotting due to brake dust build up.

Also as the front forks break in at about 10000 miles, they loosen up and move freer. The fork oil change fixes that. Until you can get that done you can try adjusting the shock for less dive and rebound.

If the tech actually does everything that is required of the 10000 mile service $450 isn't a bad deal. My dealer wants over $600.

Even if you hire it done I recommend having the service manual so that you can go over what was done and how, just in case someone were to leave a screw loose or a wheel un-torqued. It becomes his money when you pick up the bike, but it is your ass on the seat at what ever speed and situation once you leave.

Thats a good deal as long as he knows what he is doing. My dealer wants to charge $720.

I do have a service manual,I'm just lazy/not confident in my abilities.
Around here within 100 miles I've found prices from 450$-900!!$.
When I asked him if he'd done them before he said ya n that it takes all day sometimes 2 days mainly for the forks.

What would be a good parts list to call ahead and have on hand for the service?(ya all know how well most harley shops are stocked with buell parts)
I'd rather this take 2 days n not 2 weeks.

Most service department's will carry the standard OEM replacement service parts. With the exception of maybe a belt or something more serious.

The service generally just requires, a couple of gaskets, o-rings and the oils.

When scheduling your appointment they should be able to tell you if they need to order anything based on what you are asking them to do.

Yeah, read your service manual on the topic of the 10,000 mile service, then when you are scheduling your service talk in depth to the service writer and let them know you know what you are looking for and what you expect. Then ask to make sure they have all of the parts and materials before you take the bike in.

It seems if you just drop the bike off and are not involved you get to the "don't much matter service line", but if you are knowledgeable and a little insistent, as well as persistent, you can be effective in making your service proper and complete.

Then when you pick up the bike don't be afraid to look it over closely to see what you have paid for.

My trip only goes to 999 before it resets to 0.

The 10k in Denver is about $350 (fork oil is the big expense).

The 15k you're supposed to change the belt and idler pulley on the original 2003 XB9r's. (pulley $90, belt $160 IIRC)

Thanks, happen to know the part # for the UPGRADED 03 belt? Or for the idler pulley?
I've been pretty lucky n got over 15k from the original non upgraded one but id rather have the piece of mind.

I don't know or trust these services they
recommend.

I've got 109,000 miles on a 1999 Superglide.

I did the oils and plugs etc. frequently
adjusted cables and primary chain and stuff like that over the time frame.

1 5 AND 10 K SERVICES WERE DEALER DONE.
AFTER THOSE i FIGURED OUT THEY DO VERY LITTLE FOR THE MONEY THEY CHARGE.
AND THE MAIN THINGS ARE THE FLUIDS
CHANGING.

IT WENT THROUGH 2 STATORS, 1 CLUTCH HUB,
ORIGINAL BELT WAS 80,000 MILES AND WAS STILL GOOD BUT I HAD EM THROW THAT IN TOO.
IT HAD CAM TENSIONERS AT AROUND 95,000.

BIG BORE KIT 1550CC AT LIKE 36,000.
LIFTERS TWICE.


SO THIS BUELL THING, ITS 11,000 MILES IN
AND I NEVER HAD A DEALER SERVICE IT. EXCEPT
FOR KICK STAND WARRANTY SNAPPED CLEAN OFF.

BUT AS FAR AS REGULAR MAINTENANCE GOES?

OIL IS A CINCH AND THATS ALL MOSTLY THESE
BIKES NEED THESE DAYS.
