I changed over to the Pro-Series Suspension Kit, and my question is are the compression and rebound adjustments shown in the service manual going to be the same or at least similar with the stiffer springs? Obviously the preload settings are going to be a bit different when setting sag, but I wasn't sure about rebound and compression settings. Any suggestions are appreciated?

Damping settings are going to be pretty much the same. Keep in mind those settings are only SUGGESTIONS. You will want to keep a notebook and make slight adjustments as you "sneak up" on settings.

You will develop preferred settings for different tracks (tight/twisty, bumpy, high-speed/sweepers)

You ought to set sag by measuring directly, ignore the lines.

You probably want to start with about 35mm front sag and 25mm rear.

Get a couple buddies to help lift the bike and steady it with your feet on the pegs and all your gear. This can safely be done with beer. : D

Thanks Slaughter. Believe me getting my friends to help for beer shouldn't be a problem.

It's pretty amazing how an $80 set of springs can make the bike "feel" completely different. I'm really looking forward to tweaking the bike to make it even better. I have two track events scheduled this summer, and I can't wait!!

Setting static sag is really pretty easy but really DOES require 3 of you to do it.

Lift the front off the ground, measure to the axle (probably from the bottom of the lower triple) - this is your "Zero" - sit on it with all your gear. Wiggle a bit to overcome stiction - and measure again. Subtract the difference. You should be sitting about at 35mm of static sag in front.


Same process for the rear. Lift the bike off the ground, measure. Sit/wiggle, measure. Should be about 25mm.

Probably cost you a six-pack - maybe 2 - YMMV.

There were directions that came with the springs. I could mail you a copy of mine if you want.

BTW, How are they working out on the street for you?

I just had a set installed and those things rock. It really woke up the handling and feel of the bike.
