I'm thinking of painting my plastics.....all of it. Repainting the body work, painting the oil cooler cover/air intake/etc. Are they any concerns regarding the black stuff? Also, how well does the painted plastic do with new paint? Thanks.

Mark
Never Give Up!

PS. It's an '03 yellow XB9s and I want it all in a pearl yellow like my old Y2K VFR.

Well here's a link I found a while ago - it's a coating guide from Dupont (the makers of the Surlyn Reflections material used in Buells).

http://www2.dupont.com/Surlyn/en_US/assets/downloa ds/reflections_coating_guide.pdf

Might be helpful.

Been considering this myself. Don't know where to begin looking for colors though. I have blue anodized parts scattered on the bike because it is a 2005 City X. I will need to try to get a color to match. I have thought of black with some type of blue rally stripe. I guess I will figure something out.

Jim is right. There is no problems in painting the XB's. Any reputable or skilled artist will know what he/she can do and can't.

$16 worth of Rustoleum from a rattle can is lasting fine on mine! Nary a scratch or chip from anything in about a year.
