So I am prepping my newly acquired Firebolt for the riding season and I notice this:

now this little guy is obviously broken, but I can't for the life of me figure out where it is supposed to go.....any help?

Mine just attached to the bolt on the front of the isolator and then wraps around the clutch cable above and below that bolt. Shouldn't be a big deal to fix.

It's one piece. I bet if you looked at the black bolt in the isolator you would find where the break occured.

It's a wire "standoff" or guide for the clutch cable. In your top pic, you can barely see the buttonhead-style bolt behind the clutch cable (approximate center of the pic) where it connects. Just buy a new one, slip it around the cable, and bolt it down. Meanwhile, keep the cable off the header pipe.

Edmbueller,
The small allen screw that is partially showing in the top pic(center of the front isolator)behind the cable is where the cable is attached.

Darcy, It should look like this. It has a half loop in the middle that is held by the small screw

Mines been broke... JUST LIKE YOURS for a year, now. My bike hasn't blown up, yet. I took the broken part off and threw it away. I suggest you do the same.

So far... So good.

Roadrailer - Nope the isolator is normal. That's how it's supposed to look.

I think he means GoWindwards...

I think the bike is being jacked by the pipe or engine during the pic?

"Dude, you got a bunch of crap in your garage! "

And you are telling me something I don't know?

My isolator was new in that photo. It's a newer generation part than what is shown on Edmbueller's

On the isolator question - any issues with my older generation design? Something to watch for?

The older generation failed more often. Inspect them every so often.

Complete failure will have the engine and isolator bracket resting on the large bolt head.

That and your butt will be vibin'! ;)

Make sure to change out that wire form. They are $6.00 at the dealer. The bottom half of mine broke last week, thought it'd be fine until the new one came in. Nope. I was warming up the bike and went inside to get my ipod, came outside and smoke was pouring of the front of my bike. The clutch cable was resting on the front header pipe and burned a hole through it and the clutch adjuster boot. Sucks.

I noticed mine broke within the first week I had the bike. I wondered how it should look as mine was also missing the middle straight section. Seems like an odd failure mode. I have over 15,000 miles since with no problem.

I broke mine from banging wheelies down to hard. What have you guys been up to? The funny part is that I broke one within 1,000 miles and haven't had any problems in the last 12,000 miles. Oh well. I think my first posts on the bad webb were about that stupid clip. I was all up in my feelings about it because it broke so early.

I built a simple helper piece for it. Took a small L bracket with some rubber tube. Cut it to fit and hooked it up on there. I think I have a pic. of it posted some time ago.
