My XB9SX feels like its strangling power lately.
I feel like I have to change gear quicker than normal - is this what is referred to as " running lean " ?

Its pretty new - still running her in 300 miles on the clock so far.

It was fitted with a Remus can a few weeks ago & all seemed fine until last few days - It kinda feels a lil nosier & the gears need quicker changing before it starts to strangle the power - Any ideas ?

its probably a clutch issue - whats the deal with a muller clutch ?

any feedback on this - i'll do a search in the meantime.

At only 300 miles I think that I would just take it back to the dealer. If there is a problem, the warranty will cover it. No sense in spending money if you dont have to.
Good luck.

unless they complain about the after market exhaust...

not exactly sure what strangle the power means?????

and it hits redline quicker so you have to shift sooner? or what is the reasoning for shifting sooner?

i guess what i mean is re: strangle power.

when you kick off in 1st gear - the point at which you feel to change up to 2nd through the rpms feels earlier before it starts to rev high or "strangle" the gear - hope you understand me here.

Maybe - im just getting used to the bike but - I do remember with the stock exhaust - I felt it had more roll on throttle on each gear before you need to change.
With the stock pipe I could cruise in very slow moving traffic in 2nd gear very comfortably but lately I feel Its uncomfortable & I need to change up to 3rd for cruising - so that the engine isnt over revving - like the sound you would get if you tried to go 30mph in first gear

Maybe it would help if - I came back with some stats ie: what mph I change up thru etc?

Are you sure it's not just the noise fooling you into thinking it's revving higher? I had a Force pipe at one point (Drummer now) and I used to ride aorund at lower RPMs just because it was so loud.

The pipe doesn't have any ability to change the RPM's you're at given a certain speed. As far as thinking you need to change sooner... Maybe the new pipe has better mid-range so it feels like it's "dropping off" sooner than the stock pipe, but it's really just not gaining HP (not speed) as quickly in the upper RPM range?

I don't remember what the power curve of a Remus looked like compared to stock.

Curious as to what ECM you have in there. Oh and what M1 said.

I think M1 has the answer.
It's the loud pipe.
