Has anyone had a XB12S or Scg and changed to the XB12Ss. I would like to get feedback on handling, better or worse, due to the longer WB and not so steep rake. Thanks!

I would imagine that's a pretty expensive undertaking... doesn't the Ss have a different suspension, or is it just the mounting pieces that change? Wait, will the Ss swingarm fit an S frame? I know the Ss frame is wider, but I don't know if that applies to the rear mounting points or not...?

The lowered pegs are interchangeable, at least!

i think he's just talking about switching bikes, not converting a bike. correct?

sorry for the absense. I have had a XB12S and i cant touch the ground on a Uly but I want more room. Hence I am considering a 12Ss, unfortanately it is winter here and cant test drive.

Can you visit a dealer and just sit on the floor model? I hear the touring saddle lowers the seat height a bit on the XB12Ss. I have the sport saddle and that raises it a bit.

I have sat on them and they fit nice, one of the guys just said he thought it would not handle quite as well as the shorter bikes. What I am looking for is if anyone has expirience to compare it to. I have also ridden CBR 600 and R6's. would it be comparable to those? Maybe it is just a dumb question and I should wait for spring, I was just hoping to take advantage of winter pricing.

I have XB9SL and recently purchased used 12XBSs. I'm 5'6", 30" inseam with size 8 shoes.

With 9SL, I can substantially flatfoot sitting. With XB12Ss, I can only tip toe one foot. Significantly higher/wider seat. It's really nothing to do with the seat height, but rather the seat width. It's like straddling a horse. A friend 6' with 34" inseam, size 11 shoes can just comfortably flatfoot the bike. I got the tour seat, which lowers 1" from stock. Still I can barely tippy toe. My six foot friend even says that the lower seat fits him better. So size wise, it's definitely bigger and feels taller.

As for handling, XB12Ss needs to lean a bit more to turn. However, it appears to lean faster with less effort. Haven't really had much chance to ride due to weather. It also feels much heavier and takes much more muscle to move the bike around.

XB12Ss is much much more comfortable. Not as twitchy, and handles bumps much better.

My first buell was the 12ss, and I now currently own a 12s. First one was killed by a tree http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/681 7/217951.html?1154629172

I really like both bikes, but to me there is a big difference. I personally like the 12s better, because the way it feels when you turn in to a corner. I am no expert, but I can feel a difference.

My wife does not like to ride for more than a half hour so I really don't have use for a larger bike. Having a larger fuel tank does not bother me because most of the guys I ride with need to stop more often than I do.
