Has anyone ever cut one of these apart or sectioned it and taken pictures? I've seen the flow diagram in the manual, and a picture here of one with the end removed but I'm curious about what's in the center of the muffler. Any info??

It's exactly like the picture in the manual on page 7-19, literally. There are also some pics on Buell's website. At least there were a year or two ago.

Beastie, thanks for that link. It's as good a document I've ever seen to simply leave the exhaust alone.

Carbon fiber!

And just ride the hell out of it, of course!

Thanks Beastie. That's a great link. It's a pretty powerful argument for leaving it alone.

I'd like a little more "thump" out of it, but I don't want something as loud as a Drummer. Seems likes it's either all or nothing.

everyone knows that the leprechaun is on strike, but the gnomes are happy to take their jobs and continue the vroom vroom.

I'd just like the stock muffler to be made of STAINLESS STEEL like the headers, instead of the mild steel it is made from. I have over 100,000 miles on the original muffler of my K1200LT and it still looks new. There's already rust showing on the muffler of my Buell...

That was the reason I switched to the Buell/Supertrapp muffler on my Cyclone... that muffler was also getting all rusty. I was able to tune the SuperTrapp to produce the same back pressure and power characteristics of the stock muffler and it was only a little bit louder. I don't see that option for the XB12Ss; especially since the stock muffler is ALSO a jack point for the bike.

I looked through the exhaust comparo at American Sportbike and didn't see anything that appealed to me.

All you exhaust makers listening?? How about a stainless exhaust that retains the interactive valve and has a deeper all around (but not obnoxious) sound?

If you skip the stainless, doesn't Odie sell that combination?

But if it's not stainless, it's just going to rust out again (or is it aluminum? I'm not familiar with the system you're talking about).

I'd live without stainless, but but I just don't want ear bleedin' loud. Based on what I've read, Odie's is LOUD. Or am I wrong? It sucks not to be able to actually hear any of these in person.
