Does anyone have any experience using "blue Dots" with LED tail light bulbs?
These are the little facetted glass jewels that reflect the tail & brake lights, baking them appear purple.
Anyone?

If you want purple lights and you are going with LEDs you can just get purple LEDs. Are you looking for that HID apperance, maybe that is what you mean. You could always give those a try and see how they work though. If you don't like them you can just take them off.

I put one on the tail light of my ol' 84 Superglide. It looked pretty cool. The blue dots may be illegal in some areas.

Technically blue dots are illegal everywhere and on every vehicle. The only exception to this rule is the 1930 Model A Ford, as some of them came factory with dots before they were made illegal. There's some useless information for ya for the day!

Actually this isn't true as SEMA has helped passed legislation that allow blue dots on any antique vehicle in many states.

Interesting trivia, but yes, it's the "hot rod" style blue dots I was inquiring about.
Just curious if they will work with LED's, as I don't want to ruin my tail light lens without knowing first.
Another complication: I'm running a clear lenses, with red LED's!
Thanks.

Why are they illegal???

The blue dots cast a less than bright purple light, instead of a red light.
