I have the 10K service coming up and I am goin to do it all myself. Built the spring tool, have everything else covered but im not sure about one little thing. How do I make sure the forks are at the same hight after I take them out and re-install them? At first I thought, oh its easy just do one at a time and measure off the other one thats in there. But me never being able to leave anything along got the idea to powdercoat the trees while I have it that far apart. But that means that I deffently need to have them both out at the same time. What all does everyone else do? Put a mark on the Tubes? take a measurment off of the top tree? let me know what you all think.

sidenote-the measurement off the top tree might not work because im swapping mine out for a different one.

TQ.... I had mine PC'd and there is a c-clip on the forks that works like a stopper. I forget which triple tree the clip butts up against but I think it's the top one.

PM me if you have any questions about the powdercoating or dis/reassembling.

there is a c-clip on the forks that works like a stopper. It will fit in the top.

Also there are marks on the top of the forks above the top triple.

Tq, when I did Mike's, I installed the left tube up against the top triple and tightened the left to the triple. I then loosely installed the right tube, fully installed the front axle (w/o wheel), then tightened the right fork tube to the triple tree. That way there wasn't a bind on the axle, in case the tubes weren't aligned (even when using the marks)

so you put the top and bottom triple clamps on, then fed 1 fork leg into it, until it stopped on the top clamp and tightened it, then the same with the other.

sounds easy.

I just had to go take a look at mine. There are definitely marks on the tubes. On mine, the second line from the top lines up exactly with the top of the upper triple.
