Well, since I finally got my hand guards off, I'm now in the market for some bar ends. I'd kinda' like sliders... something to absorb a bit of impact when the bike hits the ground (Heaven forbid!). I'm having a hard time deciding, though... they ALL look the same! Anyone want to share their opinions on different makes?

Thanks!

Aw shucks.

The extra heavy HVMP bar ends will work with the stock Buell handguards. Uly riders have had good things to say about them. Without the handguards you have 2 choices of weights.

I endorse the HVMP bar ends.

Since I got them, any hand numbness is something I just don't think about any more.

I haven't had a chance to crash test them, (yet:-), but I did have a semi tip over the other day, and they did protect the CRG levers nicely, whilst the stock Buell footpeg shattered.

In addition, they are very nicely made, fit nicely, and look sort of cool, at least to these old eyes.

Wow, those do look heavy-duty. I bet if you teamed them up with a Bar Snake, you'd do away with ALL vibration!

Don't bar weights affect handling though? Thought I read on here one time that it did, even though it's less than 2 lbs total...?

Just go to the bathroom before riding....2 lbs. extra weight taken care of, or have one less beer that night.

The bar snake in my opinion is a good choice if you can't use bar ends. Putting weight on the bars as far out as possible is the best way to affect the resonant frequency of the bars. The change in handling is imperceptible. The bar ends affect high frequency vibrations and the act of steering the handlebars is in effect a very low frequency movement. Put a one pound weight in your hand and shake it back and forth as fast as you can. You will feel the weight as you fight inertia. Now move the hand back and forth about as fast as you would when steering or countersteering the bike. You will not have to fight that inertia and you will hardly know the weight is there.

An additional benefit that I've found on my S3T is that they also reduced decelleration wobbling in the front end.

I've got the silver 'bullet' shaped ones. I couldn't say how heavy they are compared to the other types but work well for me.
