I understand the initial price do to development and machining but alright already, when are the right side scoop prices going to come down?

Oh, also, I remember seeing on on this site that was far closer to the factory left side one than anything I've seen any where else. Does anyone remember anything about that?

Yep, I had that one. It's a dead ringer, though the contruction is totally different (stock is kinda like Rubbermaid, crins is hard as a rock). However, be sure to get the right one. His original RSS doesn't fit properly on the Ss or the Uly frame... it attaches fine, but sticks forward too far. He's got a second one available now that fits like it's supposed to.

I'm interested in this also. Ftd, is Rob the guy that was trying to do a RSS out of a plastic to match the stock left scoop? That whole topic kind of disappeared.

Just saw the RSS on american sport bike.
In carbon fiber or pre-preg fiberglass.

I think they're way too expensive for what they are. I'd like to run one, but not for an arm and a leg. If anyone's got a used one for a decent price I'd be interested though. Shoot me a PM and I can paypal on the spot. Otherwise, I just took the trim off the right side and it helped keep the fan off more than it was stock; plus it shows off the heads more/looks better IMO.

The scoop that hovers above the front exhaust header might smolder if the bike is allowed to idle for a long period of time.

The reason the subject disappeared is that it is freezing out.........I have the CF right side and have it plugged up right now along with a cover over the oil cooler. I could not tell you the last time my fan ran. The morning temps into work are in the high 20s and the afternoon temps are in the low 40s. So it never runs.

When the temps start to rise again watch the threads about noisy fan and right side scoop and whether it works or not.

IMHO the only time it is needed, at least here in Ohio, is from June to October. I probably should take it off completely for the winter.

Teeps never had my scoop smolder.....

Tx05xb12s just about all the toys for Buells are way over priced. Carbon fiber.....especially the well done parts are expensive. Heck most of it is made in Germany and Italy.

With the preferable average rear cylinder head temp being anywhere from 350-400 degrees, I would say that's probably a good idea. I rode my bike at 5k RPM in fifth gear for about 20 minutes in 65 degree weather and never broke 350. So, they do a good job of keeping themselves cool.

I hate when that happens. At first I didn't know what the smell was. I put a piece of adhesive backed heat barrier tape on the bottom of mine and have not smelled it since.

I'll be posting pics after I put everything back together in a couple weeks. I bought a scoop today. It wasn't cheap, but I've wanted one since August of 04 when I bought my bike.
