Does anybody have any info or pics of the prototype force airbox for the xb's? When will they be available?

This is the first I've heard of such a thing. Where did you hear about it?

Someone from another buell site just said that he had one on his bike but could not say any more until the production version came out.

Maybe that is all that it is? I hope not. I need something to get more power but not cost to much money right now. I have 2 other expensive hobbies ( guns and cars).

This is the carbon fiber one from Trojan horse. Perhaps the force one looks just like it, he is making a number of carbon pieces for the XB's.

Besides if you throw a K&N filter in, I doubt you will pick up any extra hp for any other type filter. Most filter setups out there are simply for looks.

from force:

Coming soon to dealer near you - the FMP Carbon Fiber collection
Here's a sneek preview of Force Motor Products Carbon Fiber collection mounted on a Buell Firebolt.
This is a four-piece set-up. The Firebolt is high technology, and that tank comes alive with a hi-tech
Force Carbon Fiber cover. Below it is the Air Scoop, which is larger than stock so the fuel injection has more
air shoveled into it. And we all know that "more air" equals more performance. So what you're getting is
killer looks and more performance...what a concept! Underneath the air scoop is the Force Motor Products
fiberglass oil cooler. It gets about 20% more air over the oil cooler. Let's see: cooler oil equals longer
engine life. OK, so far with this set-up you'll have more performance AND longer engine life...now add the
front chin spoiler with its larger opening, and you've got a handy-dandy carbon fiber setup with the quality
that Force Motor Products is known for. All pieces are color sanded and buffed for the final touch of
craftmanship that you expect from FMP!

I like the looks a lot; they seem like nice pieces. However, more air intake probably causes more drag, right? Can they quantify their performance claims? Does the XB fuel delivery system go to open loop at WOT? If so would more air intake cause the bike to run lean? Just some thoughts.

The XB intake is not a RAM intake; the scoop doesn't even contiguously connect to the intake hole in the frame it appears more to direct air to cool the engine. Sounds like good marketing speal though. It certainly looks cool.

When AR mentioned an "airbox" I assumed it was some sort of performance enhanced version of the actual airbox, not just the cosmetic cover. Oh well.

For those who are into the whole carbon fiber deal it isnt bad, but personally I feel carbon fiber has over stayed its welcome. I know all about the weight savings, blah. blah, blah, but most folks put it on cause it has that "go fast race bike" look. I dont care for the look.

Carbon Fiber (IMO) has become to sportbikes what chrome is to cruisers. If you like how it looks then put it on.

That Force stuff looks REAL nice.

The force stuff does look real good, but like dyna said Im not into the carbon fiber look. I was hoping for a real ram air setup.
Blake is right about the scoop not actually force feeding air into the airbox, but doing more to cool the rear cylinder. This is why I cut some large holes in my stock air box to help suck more air into the intake. I also shimmed (just a little) the air box cover to help let the air in.

I dont like the plastic air scoops, I think CF is the only option so far. or leave it..
I wanna rip the top scoop off..

CF is a great weight savings material for racebikes, even if painted it cannot be beat. It is here to stay for a long time. As cosmetic enhancement, it is purely up to an owner's taste, I agree. It's better than chrome. Or.. how about chromed carbon fiber! LOL!!!

Yep, Duck said it best. Carbon fiber is a sportbikers chrome. Hmmm, what would they be substitute for tassles & fringe?

Maybe the color matched grips & valve stem caps?

Atkins diet. Cheaper than carbon fiber and more effective weight loss. Me? 17.5 pounds in 5 weeks and still going. Try it.

Diets are for chicks.
And anyone who is serious about getting all of the performance out of their bike that they can.
How often do you see or hear of someone who is 20-30-50-75 lbs overweight & yakking about how they want the latest yamazukihonda because it weighs 3 oz less than last yrs model? Its hard & expensive...ie carbon fiber..to take pounds off a bike, but you can drop the double deep fried fries & the triple wendys burger & lose weight for nothing.

You know how tangents go.

The original subject..the Force air cleaner or "supposed" ram air induction unit has do far turned out to be much ado about nothing. The whole carbon fiber vs chrome vs going on a diet vs wendys is a much better subject.
