Im getting ready to do it and don't want the bike down for long so I thought I would take any suggestions you may have from your experiences. I have 05 pulleys, gaurds, and tensioner, and will be ordering an 06 belt from DaveS. Will I need anything else? Will mine being a low model make the rear master cylinder issue worse for me? I did read that the output shaft for the front pulley is left hand threads. And do I REALLY need a torque wrench to do this or can I just put the front sprocket on with an impact and use locktite?

I can't speak on the rest of your questions because I just don't know, but there is no way I would put an impact wrench on that nut. What holds the other end of that shaft from turning? Your transmission gear teeth. Wonder if all that hammering from the impact wrench will be good for the those teeth?

I did this swap...the dealer did the front pulley and I did everything else. I looked into the tools required to do the front pulley and reviewed the service manual. Impact wrench is supposed to be used along with red Locktite on the nut. However there is also supposed to be a Pulley Lock tool used. This tool holds onto the front pulley on its teeth and is bolted to an existing threaded hole designed for this purpose. This prevents the tranny from taking the majority of the hit.

I did not change out my rear brake master cylinder...I tested compression of the suspension and never saw less than 1/2" of clearance so I didn't see the need. 13,000+ miles later and it is fine...no indications of rubbing at all. However I am not sure about your bike being a "low" model...

I would not use an impact wrench on the front sprocket, but there should be no
reason you could not do it yourself. just remember that the threads on the front
sprocket are left handed.

I would use blue locktite on it myself unless you never intend to disassemble it again.

I used a impact but I borrowed the special tool from a local builder to remove it correctly on the wifes 03.
