Hey y'all. I'm relatively new to the group and just slapped down my down payment yesterday for a brand new 2007 Buell XB12Ss. It should be here in the next few weeks. The first thing that I will probably get for it is a new set of rearsets as a bit of adjustability would be great...plus I dig the look of some of the aftermarket units. Can the rearsets by Sato Racing or Gilles Tooling that are made for the XB12r be used on the XB12Ss? Has anyone successfully installed these? I'd just love to see a pic of them if you have one. Here is the Sato Racing set:  I don't have any pics of the Woodcraft set because I mangled them a few days after installing them. Both of these sets are on an XB9R that I race in CCS amateur races. Unfortunately, I found the very expensive way that the stock set is the most practical for me. Any aluminum rear set with bend if the bike low sides. They are basically expensive junk after that. More importantly, it is very difficult to replace these rearsets trackside because normal race vendors don't carry Buell specific parts. The stock sets are cheap and obtainable quickly. Now I just hack off the tabs that hold the stock peg with the spring, drill a hole and mount a rigid peg in its place. And keep a few spares with me. | ||

Any of the aftermarket rearsets designed for the XB series will fit the XB12SS also. Other brands you may want to look at look at include Rizoma & Free Spirits, Both of which are excellent quality. Top picture shows the Free Spirits rearsets fitted to our race bike (Uly frame) and the lower pic shows the Gilles rearsets fitted to a XB9S.   | ||

Hi Murdoch, The hugger is the extended carbon fibre hugger from Ilmberger. This fits all pre-06 models and works really well with the cut down 'cheesegrator eliminators' to cut spray by around 80%.  | ||

I've used Woodcraft on my '03 XB9S, but would not recommend it because of the fitting issue. Anyone that used it would know what I'm talking about (unless the design has been changed since '04). The stock bracket has mounting ears that extend perpendicularly outwardly from the mounting bracket. This extends the footpegs outwardly away from the frame so that you can comfortably rest your feet at their natural position. In Woodcraft, the pegs are way too short so that when you are in the riding position, you can't really get your shoes to fully rest on the pegs. Your heel gets in the way against the rear swingarm. That is, the footpegs are not long enough to sufficiently clear your heel against the rear swingarm so that you have to toe-in your feet to clear the heel against the rear swingarm. Am I clear? If may work if you really have narrow shoes. The pegs need to be way longer or have a thicker bracket that is angled properly so that it is flush against the frame. Mine sits about .25 inch inwardly at the top fore part of the bracket causing the lower part of the bracket to extend inwardly of the frame. It may be curable with proper shims, however. May not be an issue if you are using for track. I have a set if any one wants to buy it from me. BTW, I've tried it on my 06XBSs, with the same result. What are the parts in front of the Giles rearsets? Are they also Giles? They look really nice and light. | ||
