Do you NEED to put in a Race ECM w/ a Special Ops pipe or can you still run the stock one? Is there going to be issues if I leave the stock ECM in?

Thanks

Mark

I installed a Special Ops pipe on my '06 XB12.
I did not change anything else.
The engine will backfire when cold and occasionally when warm, but I do not hear any pinging or other sounds of detonation.
The engine seems to gather revs quicker than with the stock pipe, overall the performance is somewhat better than stock; this with the stock ECM.
The sweet exhaust note even has Harley riders waving.
