Well, unfortunately it's about that time of year again. I'd like to buy a trickle charger for my bike for this winter. What do you guys recommend? I'd like to get some input. | ||

If you buy the one HD sales, make sure it has the pigtail that mounts to the battery. It only comes with the clip on type now and you need to buy the one that is a permanent mount seprate....my dealer had a mix of the old and new on the shelf...fun fun for them... | ||

I'm sure if you don't mind spending some money there are some really nice ones out there, but for my needs I just went to Wal-Fart and bought the $20 black & decker charger. It has leads you can run under your seat and easily connects. It works well and i've had no issue with it for 2 winters. I'll probably pick up another one shortly for my new bike as well. | ||

I use the Battery Tender Jr.- It's automatic from charge to maintain. When I bought the bike new the dealer (Cerini HD - Buell) had already installed the wire connection on the battery to connect easily to the Battery Tender. There is no need for me to even remove the seat to hook up. It was thoughtful of the dealer and he didn't even try to sell me a charger. (Message edited by old man on December 18, 2006) | ||

I got a Battery Tender Jr. as well. My 06 City X came with the plug already on the battery. If you buy the charger from HD parts it's just a Battery Tender Jr with a Harley shield on it and costs you about $20 more. | ||

Tender,or whatever you use,be sure it's 1.5 amps or less.Use a car type/w 6amps and you'll boil the battery dead. | ||

this is the one I got...tho I don't remember it being called Supersmart...thought it was the Tender Jr click it's great...comes ready for the pigtail and has other options if you need them, like for other batteries | ||

Ctek makes some AWESOME trickle/maintanence/chargers! They are european, not too expensive considering what they do, will work for MANY applications, not just storage. It has options to repair sulfated batteries, quick charge, charge leveling, charge monitoring, many cool options. Of course the tender Jr. works fine for just that, tending. I grew up in South Bend IN, I Feel ya! I moved to GA in 2000 and will never look back. By the way I use a Battery Tender JR for the bikes I dont ride often. (Message edited by new12r on December 19, 2006) | ||

Battery Tender Jr has saved my life so many times now. Between 2 cars and a bike the tender has kept my batteries nice and strong. Out of everything I own the tender has paid itself off 30 times over. | ||

Is the tender Junior enough to charge a new battery? In Europe (at least in France), the best you can get are the Optimate ones. |
