Is there a serviceable or replaceable fuel filter on an XB?
I have a BMW R1100S also. The beemer requires replacing the fuel filter every 24K miles. I've checked my XB service manual, but haven't seen any mention about fuel filter replacement or service.
Thanks
Asbjorn

There's a screen,as well as a filter located on the pump assembly.Page#4-109&110(early MY2005) and page#4-117&118(late MY 2005) of my Service manual describe their replacement. But,nowhere does the manual prescribe a maintainance schedule.I guess you run it till it becomes so clogged it don't run.

My Parts manual lists numbers #P0101.02A8 filter& #P0806.K screen for both early&late Model Year '05.

I've don the 996 Duc fuel filter three times now in 13,000 miles."They"....advise replacement every 6000 miles.Hmmmm

Thanks Ducxl for finding the manual pages. I missed it myself, apparently. Strange that it is not part of the maintenance schedule. I had a Yamaha XS650 years back and its owners manual even described fuel filter maintenance. I don't think gas has gotten any cleaner since the 70ies.

I just serviced the beemer, and that filter certainly needed replacing! I wonder if some of the posts every now and then that refers to difficulties at higher rpm isn't possibly a fuel filter issue.

when i was recently trouble shooting my bike i thought of the fuel filter. i asked the mechanics at work and they said the baggers don't need it until 30000 miles, and not to even think about the buell until like mentioned, it quits. if a bagger last till 30,000 i'd say a XB is good for a long time
