As the battery in my 03 9S is original, I wondered if its possible to push start if the need arises. Do you use 2nd gear? And can one push it fast enough by himself? Thanks. | ||

On my 039s I replaced the battery last may when it starterted to clear the clock and 2nd and 3rd odomerters.Only about$65 at my dealer and was great for piece of mind. | ||

I've had to do it. And yeah i did it in first. popped and down the road I went. But thats just me. Careful. :P  | ||

Well, let me add my variancies to this. I do it in 2nd. Mostly because, 1st just seems to low and 3rd seemed like it lagged to a stall. What ever works best. Just try it now, before the battery dies, so you know when or if the time arises. Mark | ||

Second gear works fine, had to do a few bump starts when my stator went out. | ||

Yeah 2nd gear works fine, bounce on the seat when you drop the clutch so the tire won't slide as much. | ||

If your worried about the battery, why not replace it or put it on a trickle charger? Neither option is terribly expensive. | ||

All bikes, be they Buells, Harleys, Rice Burners, Beemers etc. come with a convenient trickle charger. It is located on the right bar end.
