Ronlv,

Sweet bike! How do you like that wave rotor compared to the stock one?

Wow...Ronlv, what a beauty! Probably a stupid question (excuse my newbie-ness) but is it possible to annodize the frame and swingarm?

Hi again. Sorry for the delay. The holidays slowed me up a bit. Here are the pics of the finished frame and other pieces. The powder color is called Lazer Blueberry and is basically a black with a heavy metallic blue content. The pics make the parts look very blue because the flash on my camera makes the blue sparkle pop out. The rocker covers are powder coated hi-temp black.

After I get the bike back together I will post a few pics of the completed project.

Pete

Thanks for the compliments. I think it is going to look really nice when it is all put back together.

Starter - Sorry I totally missed your question about the exhaust. You can definitely use a hi-temp powder on a muffler. There are 5-6 colors to pick from. The header pipe is a little trickier. There are two options; high-temp powder or ceramic. Of the two ceramic is able to resist the heat by the head better. After two or three years the high-temp powder will start to breakdown and chip off from the repeated 1000 degree F heat. So you would think ceramic would be the obvious choice right? Well, it has been my experience that the road debris from the front tire will destroy the coating way before either coating fails, so realistically either will work just fine. Over the course of 10,000 miles or so the header will have a sandblasted appearance and need to be recoated anyway. I'm sure you can fine lots of opinions on which way to go and why.

The top triple clamp is a stock Firebolt clamp that I hacked apart. I use Woodcraft clip-on bars so there was no need to have the sleeve for the stock bars on the clamp.

I haven't figured out the total cost yet, but you can give me a call at 732-722-2955 or e-mail me at pete@grandstanddesigns.com and I can guestimate it for you.

Man, that looks killer!
What color are the plastics going to be?
If this is an XB_R then I think white would look really clean.

I have the Carbon Kevlar full fairing kit from Sebimoto. It is kinda yellow-green-blackish in color. The bike is almost rebuilt. I'll post pics in a few days.

Just to add to this thread a bit I was at a vendor today that can powder coat any metal and make it look like carbon fiber...or anything else for that matter..it is an interesting technology and not very old, but I took a tour of their facility today and they can powder at low heat plastics and then add a liquid teflon clear coat that is the same as the graffiti resistant clear that will not hold dirt or other paint for that matter, the powder coating process is amazing using a cloth that leaches color and a vacuum oven to transfer the image to the coating then clear powder coat over it...I found the experience to be quite interesting...I was thinking of doing my entire bike in a wood grain..just to be different.

Hope everyone likes.

The rear rotor weighs a couple of pounds so I figured I'd do without it.

No, really, I ordered a new rotor and it hasn't come in yet. Didn't want to hold up the whole build and wait for it.

Thanks for all the great feedback. I'm very happy with the way the bike looks for this year. Now if I can only make it go fast without crashing it. That racing I guess.

If anyone makes it out to the CCS Mid-Atlantic races at Sumit Point, WV, stop by the pits and say Hi!

Thanks, Pete
