The Remus pipe is good.
It comes with road legal inserts (Europe),
22 mm .
Remus can deliver 35mm inserts and with
these the bike sounds like a welltuned V8..
...well , almost

anyway , a great pipe!

I have a Latus that I would gladly trade with you. Never had a problem with it but I think the Drummer is a little louder which is what I'm looking for. Let me know. I think you can see it in my profile picture.

The Remus for the XB12 now comes as standard with two sets of inserts so you can 'tune' the sound to how you prefer it.
Build quality is superb and it is all stainless and all welded construction, so no blown rivets.
The only downside is that it is still heavy compared to other aftermarket pipes, as it is a twin muffler system.

By the way, Remus and Sebring are exactly the same system, just badged differently for various markets : )

That's pretty different to know Trojan.

Are they made by the same manufacturer?

Meaning is the name more like a model #?

They are exactly the same and are made in the same factory in Austria. They are just badged diffeently because some markets have Remus distributors and some have Sebring (and some, strangely have both).
They both have versions that will fit all XB models but you must specify if it is an XB9 or XB12 as there are slight differences between the two models.

What I want to know is how do you get your hands on a Latus? I tried google and searching around.

Nada.

I mean, who sells them? Someone does.

How much do they cost?

The only thing I seem to find in rather easy supply is Jardine, Micron, D&D, Drummer, Special Ops.

The Remus, and Latus seem to be those Pink Elephants.

I hear they exist but I can't find one.

I found the Latus really improves low-mid range power on my 9R compared to the Buell race pipe I had before. You don't feel the power "coming on" in the higher revs like the race pipe though, it's more linear. Get some good ear plugs though...I find the low frequency really reverberates in my helmet...really hard on the ears after a while.

I saw a pink elephant just like that one the other night. Except it was small. I mean really small. It was so small you needed glasses to see it. About 10 to 12 glasses to be specific *hic*

You don't, at this time, Latus discontinued them when they stopped being a Buell dealer. I have one up at Vallejo that is being used for mapping. When I get it back, I'm going to use it to tool up a new one. Too many projects, not enough time.

So, what are they? Have they just gone the way of the 2 dollar bill? What's left is left? That kinda sucks, doesn't it? You would think that some really smart engineer or crafty fella would be reading these types complaints or see and advantageous door to stick their foot into with this. I don't know a DAMN thing about exhaust, but hell, it might be worth a try to crack one or two open to see what really makes them work and how.

So what happens to all those folks who have issues with their Latus down the road and would like it rebuilt? Do they just have to suck it up and go find the local welder, Jessup, at his backyard fix all to hook em up for a case of beer? Hell, I don't mind that, but, it would be nice if their were another alternative.

So, lets get this straight, you can't have the buell race exhaust anymore as of July 2006, if I recall right, no more Latus. So you have Jardine, D&D, Drummer, and Special Ops. Does that about cover it? Oh, and Remus, and Micron full exhaust. So, you can go and get yoruself a Jardine can for round 300 or send in your cans to Drummer and Odie (which isn't looking bad right now) or blow over 500 on a D&D or 800 on the micron.

Why aren't there more reasonably priced options? Granted, I'm not poor, but I'm not loaded, either. Plus, when you get the exhaust, you are also gonna want the Race ECM. There's another 210 bucks. Plus, you say you want to reset that their TPS? Okie dokie. Well, either go to the dealership, or spend another 200 bucks and do it yourself.

Frustrating.

Plus of course Hot Performance (slip ons and full systems), SP Performance (slip on only), HPE (expensive slip on with exhaust valve), Ti Force (full system) and very shortly Zard (full system only).
That is just the European options (OK and one Japanese)

I'm the guy that has the Latus but it's heading to Canada this afternoon. I got it from a place in Washington but I don't actually remember where. It's actually very compact with twin chrome outlets. The fit was perfect and I've never had a problem with it. Brand new it set me back a little over 400 dollars. You can kind of see it in my profile picture.

The Latus, at least the one I had and used on the 9R in 03 is an Edelbrock car muffler with chin mounts and an elbow to hook up to the header welded to it.
Any muffler shop could make one for you.

Here is the number that you can contact Latus Harley Davidson of Portland Oregon. 800 446-2525
This is the dealership I got my 12r from. they seem to have developed the exhaust in house. I think it was part of their racing development. Like it was said in other post they did stop retail of the Buell line. But I think they started once the 12x came out. Hey if enough people call they may be more inclined to manufacture some more. Tell them Clint sent you and I may get a break or they at least might remember my name next time I walk in. They went from a little hole in the wall behind a strip club to a million dollar building when Harley exploded. I used to deliver there packages and they would work with me when it came time to buy stuff. But we all know how that goes.

Well, that makes sense. I am from Portland, and I know Latus Harley, but, I had no CLUE that it was them that manufactured that exhaust. Shoot, if that's all it is, I'm gonna call them Monday.

Thanks for the info.

Well, Im actually in NC in the Marines. I am originally from the Portland Gresham area and Hawthorne dist.

So, I was up at 8:07 Eatern Time. I try to get back to OR as much as possible. My uncle is good friends with the Latus guys with the ABATE chapter outta that area. (He's some lifetime member since the 80's). Im gonna give him a shout and see what he knows or can do about talking to those guys about an exhaust for me. However, he's a damn die hard ABATE Harley freak since the early 60's. His wrong doings with the biker gangs back then landed him in Vietnam twice. So, I told him he I had a Buell and he laughed and said. Ok, atleast it's american. But, I'm gonna hollar at him and a few of the other guys out there and see what they know. This opens up so many more doors knowing that it's actually the Latus boys at that Shop who are responsible for this exhaust.

Later.
