I'm back safe and sound from my trip across the state to swap suspension components.

It was a good trip, except for the traffic (caused by jack-knifing and flipping trucks)
on the interstate. Something about over a foot (16 inches here) of snow making the road
slicker than greased snot.

So I got there 45 minutes late despite the fact I left over an hour earlier than I should
have on a normal day. I HATE being late!

So I finally got to Tim's house and he finished pulling the last parts off of the bike.
I am terrible with names, and I can't remember the other guy there's name (sorry)
and there was a beautiful sight in the garage, 2 lightnings and a firebolt. Good stuff!

About that time Shazam shows up and we did a bit of bench racing and talking about the
up-coming racing season. It looks like there may be a good turnout of Buell fans for
The Heartland Park leg of the ASRA series : )

Anyway, the swap went fine and I want to thank everyone that helped, or tried to help
make this possible. I'm thrilled with the idea of having my "new" XB9/1250RLX (my new
designation since it is an R with Low suspension and an X1 crank ;))

Think of it as the Rolex (RLX)of Buells ;)
(Yes Sean the rolex bit was added for your benefit : ))

I'm working to help Sean understand that Rolexes are purchased by people who don't know any better.

That ride along I-70 is awful. I can't even imagine it with the crap that fell this week. I made a detour up to Mexico a little over two years ago. I went to see the Zenith Aircraft plant and check out their "wares".

If you're ever back in town don't be afraid to give me a shout ;)

I thought that the Rolex comment would get your's or Sean's attention after the way the
Craft helmet thread got onto quality timepieces.

BTW my imitation Timex is still going strong ;)

I have an innate ability to prolong the life cycle of a near dead thread. Some call it a hijacking. I prefer to call it thread ICU. The Craft thread was dead about 22 posts ago. It's just that no one knew it. ;)

I would love to swing by. It's a fir piece off the beaten path, though. I was only rolling that direction because I was flying in to KC and driving home.

How the hell do you find ANY good roads in that part of the country? You must head south to the MTNF. I will be rolling across southern MO on HWY 60 in three weeks.

There are some good roads, you have to hunt them down though, On the good side the
good roads aren't overcrowded (Like the roads in So-Cal were), and the good roads
are also lightly patrolled by the highway patrol;)

There are loads of them down south of here, and there are a few to the east along the Mississippi too.

Bottom line though I'm not riding as fast as I used to in the corners, (No more hanging
off the inside for me), and I can find plenty of roads that keep me entertained.

I do intend to take my bike with me when I go back out to visit the In-laws in San Diego
one of these days : ) I may even see them if they are still awake when I get back from
riding : )

I do miss Mt. Palomar, The Ortega Hwy, the 94 by the border, and trips to Julian.
Those were some great roads back before the locals started oiling the roads down.

Then again we used to be more respectful of the locals "in the old days" and there
were a lot fewer of us out there.

These days, the "Pace" works for me. Nick Ientasch got it right! (for public roads)

There are tons of fantastic roads on south and south central Missouri. North Missouri is flat, but the south is hilly and many roads are twisted. I live around Lake of the Ozarks and there are good roads everywhere. I just got married two weekends ago in Eureka Springs Arkansas (just south of the Ark/MO border), and that area is a huge biker destination. The roads around there are built for our Buells. I can't wait to go there and try them out next spring!

I went to school in Bolivar and cross the southern part many times a year (will be going to the in-laws in three weeks in Joplin). The southern part is great. We go to Branson and Eureka Springs often, but I have never ridden it. I will try to get my bike out that way this summer.

Once you get north of Rolla, there ain't much to see. Your only curves are where the road has to turn at a 90 degree to get around "Farmer Brown's" field.

Great story about the suspension swap! Never underestimate the power of people on BadWeb!

I'm sure you'll enjoy riding your "new" bike this Spring.
