What's the point? Is it just for looks, or is there something else? I think they look cool, but I was curious.

You can adjust them to 6 different positions.
Closer in for hammering the canyons and farther out for feathering wheelies.

The adjustability is primary for some, looks for others.

For the money I'd be looking ar a radial master cylinder either from ISR or any of
the others for performance gains. Reduce frictional losses and you get direct actuation
in the bargain. Usually the complete master cylinder doesn't cost much more than
a pair of CRG levers.

Then the next upgrade would be to the ZTL2 caliper to take full advantage of the
new master cylinder: )

At least that's the plan for those that have to upgrade piece by piece like me.

I think you need to try them to determine if they are for you. For me a small adjustment, which may not be possible with the stock levers, to place the lever where I want it makes all the difference in the world.

I have run several bikes with the stock levers because they were where I like them. The Buell Levers happened to be a bit large to me and pretty far away from the grip.

Thanks for the info guys. To me clutch is perfect (adj. helps), but the front brake is kinda far. Maybe something to consider in the future.

I got the CRG shorties. I have small hands and started out on the closest setting. Now I run the brake lever at 2 and the clutch at 1.
My first impressions were mixed but now that I'm used to them, they seem perfect. what I cannot explain is why, with every thing else I've done to the bike, people seem to comment on the levers first.

The reason that levers are visually so important is that the eye tends to go to both ends of a visual element to help define it.

That's why on a motorcycle, the tail treatment, the
wheel hubs, and the headlight are very important design elements, that significantly define the look of a machine.

In the case of the CRG levers, even though I freely admit that I bought them for their looks, I have been very pleasantly surprised at how much better they work than the stock levers because of their shape and adjustability.

To make myself feel less extravagant, I listed them under "Performance Mods" in my profile.

That helped alot, when I got the bill.

Brineusaf: It seems people notice the bike than the first specific will be the levers. So it's not you. You've given me plenty of good feedback so far, don't stop.

Gentleman-jon the scholar: Here is my observation. The lightning as a form follows function machine is beautiful but who ever it was that settled on the cheese grater tail, headlights, mirrors and floppy turn signals should be fired! Changing those thing would surely improve lightning sales. Hope I haven't just insulted Boss... I do love the Bike!

I like the grater... When I bought my bike it was chopped and I ended up trading it for a uncut tail..

I'm not a fairweather rider and riding in the rain and having a rooster tail shooting up my back isn't my cup of tea..

Have you adjusted it with the dial?

I know first hand about the water on the back but to me it looks so so so much better. Admit it you could do better than the cheese grater tail. Failing that, I'll admit I've been wrong before. Still I hope a new rain suit will keep the water off my lower back.
