So I decided to take a little 20-minute ride along PCH, which is a couple miles from my house. So I pulled out of the garage on the City Hero and headed south down Main street. At the first signal I saw a couple kids, one on a red CBR, one on a newer Gixxer with a dealership plate that was abused, dirty, worn and broken in half. I thought to myself, why don't you just put the freakin plate on already. No one cares about your 6-month old Gixxer. Anyway, as the light turned green they kinda raced off, and the kid on the Gixxer did some wheelies and some one leg in the air stunts and what not, right by the police station - freakin idiots. At the next light I pulled up next to them and the kid on the CBR nodded and the kid on the Gixxer looked at my Buell and let out an audible laugh. I wanted to say something or race off, but I knew neither were worth my time. So, having had enough of these two clowns and instead of heading down Main I took a side street to PCH instead. On my return loop, I decided I would try Main again to get home, and sure enough, on the side of PCH with two of Huntington's finest motor officers was my friend on the Gixxer. Redemption I thought to myself! Sometimes it pays not to play. I guess this means I am getting older and wiser, because years ago... well you all know what you would have done. --Sean | ||

Kind of like the scene in the matrix where Neo is in the car and has to decide whether or not to get out. Trinity says something like "You've been down that road. You know what's down there" There are times and places for all things. Stunting is never a good idea on crowded city streets. This is doubly true when the street passes in front of the police station. I'm also reminded of the joke about a young bull and an old bull standing on top of a hill checking out the herd of cows at the bottom of the hill. The yound bull says "Lets run down there and do a cow!" The old bull says "Nah, lets walk down and do 'em all" Take it easy out there on the public road ways. | ||

so brian, does that mean my wheelies at homecoming up and down the road while we were waiting on that damn train were acceptable then? lol all the traffic was waiting on the other side of the train you know.....! | ||

There was no oncoming traffic and no one coming up from behind Tim. Not what I'd call a busy road at the time. You have a pretty good handle on when to "pull in your horns" Not like the crap they show on superbikers where they screw around in traffic in metro downtown areas with wall to wall traffic and on freeways in traffic. Bad news for all of us because the public doesn't see any difference between responsible sport bike riders and the nut cases. Kind of like the dentists and accountants riding Harleys are seen as "Bikers" by the public at large, not as the RUBs they are. The more that these guys screw around in traffic the more the cops will be on our backs and the more laws will be enacted to restrict where and what we can ride. | ||

Since Im still young and stupid I would have raced them cause buells are pretty quick from a dig, I can always beat my buddies on there 600s when we mess around but after about 60-70 their bikes just blow by. |
