Not trying to Hi jack the thread. But I want an oil temp sensor that screws into the resevor like the HD cruisers have. The analog type. Anyone seen one of those threaded for the XB's swing arm??

Hogs,

I have thought about it too. I work in the avn biz. and I think I would stay away from it mostly because you are paying for the FAA approval. Lots of money get tossed into that stamp. Now that you got me thinking You should check out a kit plane mag or web site. I bet you can find any type of gage that you can imagine there! Just make sure its 12V.

I would much rather have

one of these. Yeah, Yeah, its says water temp, it can be orderd with oil temp! I think it looks proper on the XB, Im not a bag fan of Knight Rider. But let us know what you find.

I like the digital gauge, but where does that plug fit? Is it intended to replace the drain plug?

Is that digital gauge waterproof/resistant? Not many aircraft have exposed cockpits anymore

I don't get it. Maybe someone can explain the oil temp thing to me. I have had air cooled bikes since the 60s and never needed an oil temp gauge, never had oil related failures (even oil injection). What purpose does it serve? When it's hot the oil is hotter than when it's cool. What can you do, stop riding?
I'm thinking if one must have additional gauges a Signal Dynamics Heads-Up voltage monitor is money better spent, and it actually does something you can do something about.

I don't know that knowing what your oil pressure is, is a bad thing. I wouldn't mind having that info myself. Low oil pressure can also let you know that maybe you need to check your oil level to avoid toasting a engine.IMO.

OK I'm only going to explain this once.

Gauges are COOL.

I don't think Buells run much oil pressure when the oil is at operating temperature.

When that baby's hot, and sitting at idle, it'll be scary. I avoid looking at it on my RoadGlide.

Pwnzor's right though, gauges are cool.
